En Avril Un Soir

As I wear this during a month-long heat wave in July, I only wish it were but one April evening with summer only a distant concern. This green, sylvan aldehydic shimmer of a fragrance has florals that are impressionistic and soft-focus, pastel powder shades and brocade moss. There is at first a polish, a lustre, if you will, to En Avril Un Soir that almost begs for a bit of coarseness, and by the dry down, it delivers: a warm wooden fond, a sharpened pencil cedar mingling with a mouth-watering sandalwood, with lingering glimmers of aldehydes and sweetness. I want to transport myself from the current dystopian mess of a world to wherever this imaginary place exists.

This is a beautiful classic floral chypre. The oakmoss is detectable but not too heavy and the aldehydes are also applied wth a light hand so there is a whisper of powder but no more. As Action says, this is a classic 70s bottle - huge, square and solidly impressive. The style of both the bottle and the juice might be considered masculine these days, maybe. To me they speak of confidence and poise. I agree with the similarities to original Chanel No. 19. Pretty much the only place to find this now is ebay I guess. Both my bottles have come from there. The upside is they were cheap!

Wow one fantastic fragrance classic on the powdery note but so fresh it one master piece this one. On top off that it's long lasting to I don’t regret my buy. Action I completely agreed whit you, Gorgeous Masterpiece. And the funny part of it I recently discover it. Were was I when it came out... ok not borne yet lol but OMG so happy now. And Action impassive collection ;-) I'm working on my lol

What a shame this masterpiece was discontinued. It was the most gorgeous fragrance. Why oh why do they take the very best RIP En Averil Un Soir

I'm dying to test this one. I think it would be perfect for Spring, with its sunny aldehydes. I like a lot of the fragrances that its supposed to smell like, so I think it would be a safe blind buy for me. Maybe I'll try to get a small bottle of it. When I see that bottle, it totally reminds me of Calandre. I think it's the shape of the bottle, but also the YR initials remind me of the PR initials from Paco Rabanne. Something about their logos seem similar to me. I know...weird!!

A lot like Caleche, and vintage Nina Ricci's Farouche. More vibrant than Caleche, it's airy and elegant, really melts with the warmth of your skin. Aldehydes and oakmoss are most prominent to me, a hint of rose. Pretty soapy, mmmh just wonderful. The ylang-ylang doesn't dominate and I like that.

I have been so lucky to buy the original. I got very curious from the reviews. I must say that this masterpiece belongs in the sky with the first versions of Chanel no. 19, Madame Rochas, Hermés Caleche and Rive Gauche. It is a true green floral aldehyde. I love the woody drydown.

Bought a vintage splash bottle (1976), really nice floral, woody, bit of citrus. Although advertised as feminine, I found this to fine for a man
