Black Opium Neon

Hmm wow there is something like pink bubblegum here, something playful and slightly plastic, in a good way. I dont smell much of the OG in this. When it comes to Black Opium EDP, I could never stand how intense it is so I opted for versions of it lacking the stinky coffee note /element, like La Rive's Touch of Woman or PB Premiere Editions version which is lighter, crisp and a cross between the Black Opium EDT and the EDP. Both of these the EDT and EDP dont work with my chemistry. But I do like the Neon. I dont get much of the coffee in this version and Im glad because Im allergic to caffeine and I cannot stand the smell of coffee, well unless its Greek/turkish coffee. This is more youthful. I dont get any banana or moldy smell from it. You should try before you buy. I like that its not a crowd pleaser. I love unusual weird scents, and this one smells unique to me. Its a love from me. Ended up buying the big bottle from YSL's site for 83 bux, not bad at all. Will update my thoughts once I wear it for a few fays. Update: Ok so I tested it for days and I realize it smells pretty much like VS Love Me, floral, bubblegummy and also abit like Poison Girl the EDT though, due to the lemon/citron and orange blossom. I do get some of the coffee, it always smells slightly stale and here it adds some spice, not too stale here tho and the drydown is basically like a lighter Black Opium.

I received this as a birthday present and was initially very disappointed. I found it headache-inducing and sharp, and did not think it lasted very long at all. It ended up being tucked away for an entire year and I barely touched it. I felt terrible for not liking it as it was a fairly expensive gift. One night before clubbing, I'm rummaging around my body mists and perfumes trying to find a good combination. I decided to give this perfume "another go", and immediately fell in love. I could finally smell the depth, I didn't find it sharp or headache-inducing like I had the year prior. It was the perfect fragrance for a night out, and ended up netting me multiple compliments on the same night. This perfume is my go-to for evening activities whether I'm going out for a nice meal or going to the bar. It is powerful, long-lasting, and absolutely gorgeous. It's my go-to compliment getter from both men and women. I wouldn't recommend this as a daily scent, it is best used on special occasion. While I receive many compliments while wearing, it is definitely an after-dark scent! This has become one of my absolute favourites, and I'm very glad that I revisited and gave it another chance.

First I have to say I didn’t realize they were redoing the format of the website and as of my first time on it right now ...I miss the way things used to be ....story of 2020! Anywho onto my review... so I had gotten a sample of this somehow and I wanted to buy it so badly but it’s very expensive, and I don’t mind spending big bucks on perfume, but for $135 for 75mls I kept putting it off but today I did it, I had a points coupon for Shoppers (Canada of course as many of you probably know) for 20times the points so I thought well I’m gonna so it today since this will likely be my last self indulgent purchase before Xmas,(if I don’t stick to that-I had good intentions) I got 70 dollars worth of points buy purchasing it So yay for that! I find this is much different than the original, and in a nice beautiful way. It’s much more...not as heavy hitting and more of year round version with a twist. I’m Not sure what I would be able to explain the twist as but it’s beautiful. I would like to know why they went with Neon....but either way it’s a new take on the OG and I love it.

A complete blind buy, on sale from £107 down to £54 for a 75ml... how could I pass it up? After being disappointed with Opium Over Red, I thought this would be a good purchase as I do find the Opium DNA nostalgic and comforting, though a bit much in its original form for me to actually wear. Neon opens up as a heavy floral. I know there's a coffee note there, but to my nose, it actually comes across as more of a black tea scent initially. It isn't overly special when first sprayed, to be honest, but the dry down... In comes the coffee and vanilla! After half an hour or so I get layers of the OG Opium coming through but with this really beautiful Coffee Vanilla, not like a black coffee.... more like one of those lattes you get in the glass cup with the foam on top. I enjoyed this in the end, the longevity is decent, I could still smell it after around 5 hours and even a faint hint of it after having a shower. Definitely worth sampling in store if you can find it, and id say its a fairly safe blind buy in my opinion. Ill give it a 7.8/10, very happy with my purchase!

Review in for my own future reference: This one smells different from the original. For some reason this reminds me of a bon fire in memory. It smells like a sweet soft powdery with a tiny bit of smokey incense playing in the back. Less of a sharp floral than the original. I like this version much better. It's a bit of a comforting scent. I think the silage would be small to arm length. I wouldn't pay full price for it. I'd keep if gifted (where as I might sell the OG). If you didn't like the org. than I suggest trying this bc it is a different scent. Also, I love that its called 'Neon', but it doesnt have a sour sweet smell, like I might assume a Neon would have (ex. Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy has been called 'neon sweet') Edit: Poison Girl Dior smells EXACTLY like this! The longevity is better with Dior! The smokiness also reminds me of L'Eau Kenzo Intense pour Femme Kenzo. The opening of that scent is much more sweet floral, but the dry-down is similar.

YSL Black Opium Neon: 🗣Received A Little Sample Of This Fragrance Yesterday Morning After Purchasing Another Fragrance, & After Wearing It & Trying It Out, Im Absolutely Shocked At How Nice This Perfume Actually Smells On Me, & The Fact That I Actually Like It This Much That I Actually Ordered A Large 75ml Bottle Today!! Im Actually A Massive Fan Of Black Opium Floral Shock & Also Black Opium Intense In The Gorgeous Blue Glitter Bottle!! This New Neon Seem's To Have A Really Soft Floral/Carefree/Airy Aroma To It Which Then Changes To The Most Beautiful Delicate Powdery Aroma; & Deffo It's Not As Heavy Nor As Sweet As The Original Black Opium!! & Deffo It, Floral Shock & The Blue Intense Are My ALL Time Favourites So Far!! Im Extremely Sad To Learn That Floral Shock Is Being Axed As These Both Are Deffo Sisters To Each Other!! & Deffo Smell Like Pure Up-Market Class!!I Sincerely Hope That YSL Has A Complete Change Of Heart Regarding Them Doing Thst!!

EDIT 8/22/21: I did not give Black Opium Neon a fair shake in my first review. It turns out it smells much better from the bottle over my decant. I LOVE it. I find it delightfully strange: pitaya and coffee, with some soft white musk and slight florals thrown in. Imagine drinking a a lightly sweetened iced coffee with milk, while eating a very sweet pitaya bowl. There are some grape-y candied elements for sure, but it is not too cloying for summer. It is not too sharp nor earthy (like Black Opium Intense and original, respectively). I love this Neon edition and Nuit Blanche, as they bring out the beauty of Black Opium for people who love more rounded, sweet scents like myself. I can spray a lot of this and not feel overwhelmed (lasted all night in my hair lol). Old review 12/20/20: Meh. It's ok, but I can't really get into it. I was hoping for a more syrupy sweet/candy-sweet bubblegum type of vibe.

What if JPG Classique Essence & Black Opium had a baby? That's Neon! A delicious, soapy orange blossom just perfect for the spring and early fall. Testing them on separate arms: Neon has the same bubblegumy, clean white floral found in Classique Essence, except they're on different bases. Orange blossom is also the most prominent note from beginning to end of the perfume lifecycle with dragon fruit supporting that soapy sweetness. Neon is just cleanliness, elegance and femininity blended smoothly. As it dries down that famous YSL coffee-vanilla accord intensifies on my skin, but complimenting the orange blossom...never overpowering it. This is definitely a spring oriented Black Opium! To sum it up: A bubblegum orange blossom with a background of mellow coffee. A luxurious quality, realistic orange blossom. Looking forward to wearing this one in slightly warmer weather :)

She is either a playful student or a life advanced, youthful single. Talkative but somehow more leaning toward an introvert. Takes love very lightly, and sparkles only more when confessing. Nonetheless she needs it too, this Saturday evening. Arrived at this big party, she gets more attention than she wants and shyly ignores it. Unaware of her lightly squinting blue eyes leaving a trail of sparkles every time it looks like she winks, causing this. Momentarily eye contact with a cute guy over there is broken, this time because of him. Boldly, she chooses to leave her friends for a while and dances towards him. As his regained eye contact loosens up, and her smile only gets more and more confident, both are blushing increasingly. Bubbling increasingly. What. A cutie. Spray this on clothes, the gorgeous pitahaya will hold out much longer.

I for one really love the bubblegum effect of this fragrance. I think I prefer Neon over Intense and I'm big a fan of Intense. Neon is more inoffensive, playful, I can see myself getting more wear out of it if I would buy a Black Opium perfume, I don't know if I will because it's a lot of money, but I will finish my sample easily. The opening is very light, fruity, bubble-gummy, with florals in the background, not as dark as the absinthe boysenberry Intense. It's nice, feminine, delicate and fun. The sillage starts average, but then it gets stronger. Later you can feel more the soft coffee in the background, it's a bit minty, vanillic, but less fruity sweet. After 4-6 hours, it's softer, but still noticeable, I would say the perfume has an average good longevity on me (unlike Nuit Blanche). It's a good discovery.

I loved the original BO, but got tired of it quick because i kept smelling it on everyone and in every single perfume out there. The BO dna is literally EVERYWHERE! I tried BO intense, the blue one but i didn’t like it since i’m not fond of fruity perfumes. And that one is literally the og BO + jammy berries. No. Today this was gifted to me, and surprisingly.. i LOVE IT. To me this smells like a concoction of almost all the perfumes i own or used to own. It’s pitahya + original BO + paco rabbane pure xs + dolce gabbana the only one + alien fusion. I mean i love all of those so how could i not love this? I wish i could detect more of the “bubblegum” note in this. The vanilla coffee note in this is so yummy, it’s more detectable here than in the original. Sillage meh, longevity good. Overall 9/10 :)

I was gifted my bottle of Neon from a friend who received it as a birthday present but didn’t like it. I have to admit I was pretty underwhelmed myself as first. I love the OG but have been unimpressed with all of the flankers so far and if I had sprayed it as a tester in a department store it would have been one of those perfume that I would have thought nah and passed it by. When I got it home I left it on the hall table and when I went out for my daily walk during the lockdown I had a quick spray, somehow it has now become my present go-to perfume as I go out of the front door and I suddenly realised yesterday I have been wearing it daily for the past month....it’s kind of elbowed it’s way into my daily routine lol. It is a nice summer version of the original I find it much more subtle.

My favorite scent currently! Much lighter than the original black opium, which I find way too overpowering. On my skin it can start to lean towards an almost anise like scent, which usually would put me off but I don't seem to mind it as much here in combination with the other notes as it works quite well all together. Although I do consider this more of a night time scent, I do use it in the day as well. The scent lasts a long while, especially on clothing, and I love how it mellows out while still staying noticeable both on the skin and in the air, which works perfectly since I live in a hotter climate. I will say that a few people have said that it smells like baby powder to them after I first put it on, but I cannot detect any powdery notes personally.

Lately, I've developed a strong love for the scent of orange blossom, particularly when paired with vanilla and honey. Despite my admiration for fragrances like "Can't Stop Loving You" by Kilian and “Sintra” Memo, they're a bit too intense for the casual style prevalent in my town, where checker shirts and heavy boots are the norm. During a visit to Sephora, I stumbled upon a flanker that piqued my interest. Its combination of floral and fruity notes immediately captivated me, that I couldn't resist alike an insect attracted by exotic flowers. I was drawn to its invigorating scent, appreciating how it creates a different appeal from a more mature original fragrance. I'm yet to learn how to appreciate the musk in the dry-down.

This perfume RULES!!! Out of all the flankers in the Black Opium line- this is, by far, the BEST!!! It’s delicious, sexy, and versatile. It opens with a blast of fruity/chocolate/coffee type scent (which, I know, sounds odd) but wait...it dries down into the most glorious, sweet and sensual gourmand thing... I’m not sure how to even describe it?! It’s scrumptious! And yet- isn’t cloying or obnoxious. To me, it’s *slightly* reminiscent of Killians Love, Don’t Be Shy in that it’s got kind of a candy thing going- but on a different level. This has more caramel and less basic sugar; but it’s got a sweetness that is intoxicating in the same way. Along with a wee bit of fruit that brightens it up.

Girls are like exotic birds. They are pretty to look at but hard to catch. I do not understand why this fragrance has received so many negative comments. An intense orange blossom note is mixed with the exotic dragon fruit. It is sweet, springy, fruity! Much more cheerful,optimistic and colorful than the original. Personally, I do not like the original that much, because I strongly detect the coffee note, which is not in line with my preferences. And in ΝΕΟΝ I don't smell coffee that easily. It also lasts long enough! If you are not a big fan of the original, then give this one a try! Do not hesitate...Lose yourself in the neon colors of spring! Star Sign: Sagittarius

I have never smelt the original Black Opium so I had no point of reference smelling this flanker. First spray I get coffee and citrus, there is something in the opening I don't recognise, it could be the dragon fruit, they're not common in shops in Ireland. The dry down is where I really love this perfume, still getting the Coffee that is now joined by Vanilla and Musk and it is just wonderful in my opinion. I think this perfume is like Marmite you will either love it or hate is with a passion. I love it and find it quite unique especially in my collection. A winner for me, bottle is very sexy.

This was my holy grail back in 2020. So sad it got discontinued. This is not for someone who wants to smell elegant or mature. This is for the it girls. The girl that everyone notices. She’s a young adult who likes the attention. She’s fun, confident, loud, hot. She wears this while having a dinner date on an autumn evening on a balcony thats overlooking the city. Afterwards she’s having a drive date as well. The wind is blowing through hair. There’s coffee, orange blossom, vanilla and freedom. She’s thinking wether to keep him or keep exploring.

For ANY Perfume Company They Take Over, They Simply Can't Leave Well Enough Alone & Absolute Ruin & Discontinue The Best Of The Line!! I Absolutely Adore The Floral Shock, & The Intense Black Opium & The Nuit Blanche Is Deffo More Easier To Wear Than The Original Black Opium!! Absolutely Crazy Thinking Whoever Decided To Do This!! Shame On YSL & Loreal!!!

dare I say my favorite black opium fragrance. very mysterious & sexy to my nose. you can instantly smell the citrus, floral, & fruit notes on the first spray. dry down is gorgeous. both the jasmine & orange blossom come seeping through the more it lingers onto you, then at last you reach the vanilla & musk undertones. the coffee note isn’t too strong/heavy. to my surprise, I really enjoy this since I’m not too big on citrus notes. sexiest floral scent to me at the moment. very dangerous but refreshing. sweet and frightening. I love her
