Surfing Mullaghmore Head

As a frag newbie with not that much money atm, I've been training my nose on ZARA and Oriflame frags (don't ask lol). And so I liked Blue Spirit and Seoul (Summer ver. being better for me) before but they both tend to be too cloying and sweet for my taste, so my blind bought 12 ml Blue Spirit ended up as my running scent. Then I saw Surfing Puerto Escondido and the Surfing Mullaghmore Head in question on the shelf in my Zara store (they didn't have the remaining two from the Chapter No.2 Surfing, even online, though I'll look for them second-hand). Intrigued by the light, simplistic design I tried them on my inner elbows. I didn't like the sweet/peachy/cinnamony S. Puerto Escondido vibe (similar to Florence or Gold) but man... Mullaghmore Head was sth else. Not only had all the fresh things I loved about Seoul and Blue Spirit but without the sweet punch - it also gives off a masculine, dry woody, almost leathery base/background that comes to the surface in a bit of time without being loud, how lovely! Did NOT hesitate to grab the 100 ml bottle for 10 bucks on sale in Poland. I love it even though the quality of the cap is sh!te and the metal component on top got once ripped off along with it when I tried to open it 😆

This has become my favorite aquatic. It is less sweet than other versions of this DNA. I get very average performance. If you are looking for something subtle, fresh, aquatic, and not too sweet this is a good choice if you find it at a good price.

Very marine opening, drydown is very fresh and clean. You can feel cinnamon, citrus and aquatic smell in drydown. It can be very good for beach days or going for coffe in summer days. But even if you overspray it, it lasting around 2 hr. Very poor performance.

#2 review Cheap and fresh but as many zara frag you need to overspray that to last some time. I would say that guy is worth a price when you get it on sale regullar price you can get better frags. My rate 6/10

I admitt I may have misjudged this collection a bit, it seemed too much based on a common and overused masculine marine dna. I tried this one again, for the third time and I find it so pleasing. It is more acquatic and ozonic then proper marine, which I like more. I still have some reservation on the opening, the citrus appear too harsh to me but I am not a huge fan of grapefruit. If you wait and have patience the mid notes and dry down are totally worth it! In the heart violet leaf has a huge role next to green apple, it creates such a lively effect! Its green and revitalising qualities meet a lightly sweetened green apple, togheter they float on sea water. The marine notes are delicate and breezy, not full of harsh calone as sometimes low costs marine can be, the result is breezy and ozonic, aquatic more so then full on salty marine. Some of the red berry of the opening can still be felt enriching the edge of the apple note. Dry down is so good, because it is both sexy and comforting. On my female skin cashmeran, musk and sandalwood prevail, creating a soft cocoon effect and a clean skin smell is also present. There is a vaguely powdery component in the musk, and in all the duration of the fragrance there is a nutty undertone probably coming from the creamy sandalwood. Some of that classic male freshy fragrance dna is present but the mid smells very intresting. If Surfing Puerto Escondido, from the same collection, had of course a warm and exotic allure, Surfing Mullaghmore Head has a cooling effect, more reminiscent of the cool and breezy waves of Ireland, much more ozonic and the breeze brings with it not only a light saltiness but the smell of a more delicate vegetation versus the warm flowers of Surfing Puerto Escondido. It lasted on me for about five to six hours, and projection is moderate; it doesn't have the extraordinary performance of Surfing Puerto Escondido but I find it is a good enough performance for summer. It is now on sale for about 12,00€ for a 100ml bottle.
