Surfing Puerto Escondido

In the end I bought this too and I see it's back again on stock so I tought I should leave my more in depth review. My impression still stand about the others, they seem too generic to me...they share that sort of marine and ozonic quality that it is a bit over used in male summery fragrances but also they clearly have some well known/designer fragrances dna in them; some of that can be found in Surfing Puerto Escondido too, specially in the opening but the flowers and the base make this much more interesting. Then again, this is a collection inspired by surfing locations so it was meant to have those qualities. The opening is very fresh and even ozonic to my nose, more so then spicy...a bit of marine is in it too. I can feel the sea breeze, truly like on high wave! With it it brings something slightly herbal and pungent, surely the artemisia, and of the mandarin I can smell the foliage and the bitter peel, not at all a sweet mandarin fruit like in Zara's Sunrise Over the Red Sand Dunes just for reference. The greenery in this shines bright on my skin, on me it is potent. At this stage the effect is clearly masculine and this opening is resistent!! Last for about 20 minutes before truly launching on the spices and the flowers...you have to be patient if that is what you are looking for. Indeed, after a while, the spices mellow down the herbal and fresh notes but still...they have a masculine character too. Cardamom is balmy and fresh (but less mentholated then the usual in Zara compositions), while the saffron, at least in the opening, is a tad sweet but overshadowed by cardamom and what remains of the artemisia. When this warms up on skin however, and the flowers start to open up, then the saffron becomes much warm, sweet and feminine like in Zara x Jo Malone's Saffron & Orange Flowers (one of my favorites that I see is in the remaind me of section); they share quite a bit this two perfumes, this could pass as a masculine version of that since to my nose the flowers here remain more balsamic and pungent, and this is not powdery at all. Immortelle and ylang-ylang are the dominating ones, one very spicy and the other very sweet and ripe and sunny! The orange blossom are a tad greenish, more gentle and immature then the ones in Saffron & Orange Flowers. Some other white flower is surely present but too generic to distinguish (that must be the mahonial, the lilial substitute, like lilly of the vally). No Alien-esque jasmine for me. I can feel the saltiness of calone all over their petals, surely dosed but it is unequivocally there. They call it solar notes, but usually those have a more creamy aspect. I didn't find any sunscreen or soft facet in this...I don't think it is too much similar to Tom Ford Eau du Soleil Blanc, that one is green in some aspects yet manages to be almost lactonic, this one stays fresh and transperent even in the dry down. As for the closing I was expecting something more warm and creamy instead musk prevails; a sexy clean musk and a touch of tonka but quite earthy, not sweet or cumarin like at all. Still, dry down is addictive and eternal on skin! I was hoping to find an intense sweet benzoin in it instead it was almost non existent on my skin, some whift of it can be appreciated from time to time but never when smelling from up close. Lasting power was surprisingly good, six to seven good hours with decent projection, dry down lasts you until the day after, and can be oversprayed without ill effects. This is surely one of the more potent Zara perfumes, which makes it a diamond considering it is a masculine floraral (quite rare in the low cost market). All in all I will say it is a very enjoyable scent specially for the price and, again, considering it is difficoult to find well dosed florals for men in highstreet retailers. I would enjoy it so much on a male skin. It is still too masculine to use on myself, I bought it hoping to find it similar to Tom Ford Eau du Soleil Blanc, something solar and creamy, and most of all similar to Gozo by Jeroboam (that I see is suggested as a resemblance) but it is worlds apart from the lush paradise of Gozo. I will try to layer it with something coconutty or maybe some sandalwood or vanilla and report back! Edit: I left this to macerate just for a few weeks, and it is now much creamy, truly unisex, and strongly flowery with that breezy/ambroxan ambery base! It is gorgeous! From now on I will review Zara fragrance only after a few months of opening because I noticed they do change quite a bit. Now the sunscreen is much more strong too and much more nutty!

Surfing in Puerto Escondido is one of the biggest reasons visitors visit Oaxaca, Mexico. Even if you have no desire to test your balance as a 20ft wave curls over your head, Mexico’s ‘hidden port’ is a highly desirable place, a small mellow town where Mexicans, ex-pats, and world travellers intermingle. The south winds hit the coast between May and August, generating great waves and breaks at Playa Zicatela. And Surfing Puerto Escondido recalls huge waves crashing on Playa Zicatela, with sour and balmy notes mixed with flowers and rounded out by sweetish musk at the end. When I tested the four elements of the new Chapter No. 2 collection right from the start, this was the one I should have noticed despite it firmly deviating from the other three. Then, as the hours wore on, it glistened on my skin, catching my attention to the point of making me want to have it in my spring rotation. Puerto Escondido is very floral, I would say the most floral of the collection. It smells very similar to a creamy white blossom, the presence of coumarin and jasmine are remarkable. Let’s talk about Surf Puerto Escondido. First, the bottle is the same one used in chapter n.1, this time with clear coloured glass, yellow for this one, so simple but nice. ZARA classifies the fragrance as amber-floral, unfolding sunny, warm, and slightly sweet. To my nose, I perceive the fresh citrus note of the sweet mandarin that gives a sparkling slant. The saffron is more flowery than leathery; the artemisia is just a breath, while the greenish and balsamic aspect of the cardamom is hard to recognise. Thus, the opening is slightly harsh with a massive floral background. The heart reveals a bouquet with a watery green tone, composed of bitter lily of the valley and magnolia-like subtleties, with the initial sweetness of the gooey ylang-ylang, the chief actor in this perfume, a semi-bitter orange blossom, and all the dry radiance of the spicy and racy immortelle. The latter also evokes the sun, the beach, the sea, and the scents of the Corsican maquis. Creamy, a creaminess arises in the heart that grows and continues for the entire duration of the perfume. In the dry-down, Puerto Escondido pursues the sweet path with a clean musk, an overdose of Tonka, and shades of resinous and balmy benzoin. Besides, there is a so-called solar note, so the perfume smells like a sea breeze, and sun-warmed skin is rubbed with Monoi oil. What remains on the skin is a musky amber redolence. Despite the flowers riot, the fragrance stays in the masculine area. Still, I see it as unisex, neither too virile nor too feminine. Without terms of comparison, the fragrance sometimes recalls "Eau de Soleil Blanc | Tom Ford" without being a clone of it. It's a bit like when we customize a recipe and we change the quantity of ingredients as we like, we remove some and add others. Indeed, a more virile version while maintaining the same accords. Ultimately, Surfing Puerto Escondido is an ideal fragrance for late spring and summer mornings and evenings, safe for the office and for going out with friends but mostly for leisure time, so relaxing and soothing. I don’t have enough data to judge the performance, which I would say is moderate at the moment. I'm basing my impressions and review on a bottle I've owned since March 2023 (BC 30130)

Wore this today. I know I had to add 8 sprays to make this to last longer, and lasted pretty much all day. Puerto Escondido needs the heat to shine. If you are on a controlled temperature environment ( aka AC), it may not perform well. The first 2 hours, it felt like was pushing nicely. After that, was in your personal bubble for about 3 more hours. Then, I noticed it was there but very light. I went for a short walk and guess who decided to show up again. Not a beast mode, and that’s fine with me. I like fragrances that can be discovered than those loud and obnoxious.

This fragrance strongly reminds me of Tom Ford's Eau de Soleil Blanc, but with one key difference: it's missing the coconut note. The opening is bright and fresh, with a burst of citrus and a hint of floral sweetness. As it dries down, the scent becomes more woody and musky, with a subtle warmth that lingers on the skin. Overall, it's a lovely scent that captures the same sunny, beachy vibe as Eau de Soleil Blanc, but without the coconut which some may find overpowering. If you're looking for a similar fragrance with a slightly different twist, this one is worth a try.

I stopped by Zara in Washington DC last week and tried different perfumes. I sprayed this on my arm and left the store. I loved the sunny, beach, and fresh scent. I went to my room and checking Zara's site with the intention of ordering it online. Upon reviewing the scent, I learned it's a men's fragrance! I was so surprised. After checking Zara's site later that evening, I couldn't find the fragrance online so I had to go back to Zara and purchase it. I love beach scents like Tom Ford's Soleil Blanc and MM Beach Walk. This fragrance is so nice and has a great price.

This cheapie is a bomb. Unisex for sure. The first time you wear it, might throw you off a bit. I gave it a second chance and boom, I like it a lot. 8 sprays and my goodness. Projected for almost 2 hours at an arm length. 9 hours have pass and is still there. All in a controlled temperature environment. The flower notes, as a man, you have to let it do its thing for the first 15 minutes, and relax. It’s a great fragrance. Zara has launched bangers lately.

Smells absolutely great and unique for this price, worth a try if you're into floral-amber combination, kind of unisex. Reminds me of YSL Libre original EDP, but more masculine - not a clone by any means, this is different, but some similarities are there.

I agree, this one is the best of this line, the only one that has a well defined identity. Sorry but the others were too generic and almost all the same stuff, didn't like them at all. This one, however, seems fresh, floral and sweet at the same time.

Great summer fragrance, to pair with linen shirts and pants. Reminds me of vacations to italy or france. Its a more unisex perfume for both men and women. Great value for money if you can get it at around $20

The nicest Zara mens fragrance I've ever smelled and only for about 15 euro. It's parfum strength, an amber bomb and lasts a decent amount of time.

Nicely done with the floral notes that is very unisex. To my untrained nose, reminds me of various pre-existing perfumes; agree with the previous review comparing it with TF Soleil Blanc minus the coconut, CK All but with more depth and longevity, and a bit similar to Prada Amber Pour Homme in the opening. Very easy to wear for spring and summer. For my brothers (and sisters, but y'all probably have tons of floral perfumes) looking for a creamy yet light, floral scent without breaking the bank, this should do it. SIDE NOTE: Purchased it from the Zara website and damn.. my bottle looked like it went through hell and back; box is crumpled, the black lettering on the bottle is scruffed off. Wondering if any of you had similar experiences from Zara.

I always thought I had a good idea of unisex profiles but times change, I suppose! This is very floral, very creamy. Reminds me of some brands of sunscreen but not coconut-y like Coppertone. The opening is very harsh to my nose. A combination of screechy opening citrus notes that you find in cheaper scents, especially those from Zara. Once those settle down you get a floral heart that strongly resembles Alien Woman. I dated a woman who wore Alien a lot and this smells strongly of it. Hence my thought this leans very, very feminine. Longevity is a solid 5-7 hours with moderate projection. A 6.5/10 for me. Cheap at $12 and might be fine for a summer scent for a woman or a man inclined to wear highly floral scents. But it’s not quality to my nose and it’s price is about accurate to its level.

This is very female leaning fragrance I am surprised its marketed towards men! It starts very floral sweet (I pick on a lot of jasmine and white flowers) and fresh wonderful but then it turns to a lotion smelling in fact there is a lotion that I have smelled before which reminds me of this fragrance exactly like it but can't remember the name of that lotion, don't get me wrong it's not a bad frag at all and am sure that in the right temperature the fragrance might change into something else! It's OK I like it but for a man it might be a bit challenging however I am keen on trying few more times and see how it evolves, Longevity is amazing one spray around 21.00 and I could smell it the next morning when I woke up Wow.

This lacks a little depth, for me. It’s a nice sun tan lotion frag, not that creamy tho, much more flowery and airy, but still, I feel like it needed a stronger woody backbone. 6 sprays and the performances are okay, at least.

Agreed that this one is the best out of the line. It is creamy and sweet but at the same time airy and doesn't feel heavy. You could totally wear this in the spring and summer. You could think of this as a lighter version 1 Million Parfum. It's not a clone, but just to give you an idea. It's also similar to another new Zara release - Zara Saturday Till 6:00 AM. They almost feel like the same juice in different bottles but I only tested both of them once or twice. Overall a good fragrance, it seems competently done and not boring to me. Worth a try.

This is a great, strong, tropical gourmand floral. Pretty cool that young men are wearing this - no fruit and not sweet. It is fun and sexy but has some sophistication to my nose. It has bright jasmine indole and a bit of petrol that reminds me of - wait for it - Shalimar. I wish I had bought 2 bottles - would be great to give as a present. Now gone, and soon forgotten.

Hello, it is probably the best of this line. Absolutely unisex, floral amber, offers a sensation of sensuality on the skin. Performance is also good, as is the price. Definitely recommended in the spring and summer season.

This reminds me so much of Zara's Soleil Decade edp. It's pretty nice :) And quite unisex I would say.
