Sampling one of the most recent releases from Zernell Gillie, R&B, a bright, fresh, fruity amalgam of guava, papaya, rose, cedar, and white chocolate, a great blending of the tart, fresh fruits with something a more grounded but still sweet, floral, woody, as the notes suggest. It performs quite well and practically is a fragrance that I could wear in a lot of situations, accessible and bright enough for a summer day but bold and dense enough for cool weather, quite playful but elegantly constructed. R&B, like the whole house, is extrait concentration and priced at $120 for 30ml, sold in the US via the house website and great boutiques like Perfumology. This and Jazz for me are instant winners, with cool concepts behind them, and fun, wearable, robust perfumes. 8 out of 10

Fruity opening with sweet tangerine, sweet guava and a faint amber accord. Dry down is sweet/salty guava + lime forward with faint white floral notes. The dry down reminds me a lot of tales from zanzibar. This seems to sit close to skin on me. This will not be a beast of a fragrance like zanzibar. Quality of the notes seems similar, but for performance reasons, tales from zanzibar continues to be a better buy at retail price

Candied tropical fruit executed at a masterful level, this stuff is amazing. Everything just works I do not get white chocolate but I can pick up on the creaminess though. I also wish personally I picked up on more rose both accords I really enjoy. As with anything Zernell makes there are layers and R&B is no different. 9.1/10

Bright, zingy, so juicy and good!!!!! Bought a bottle at Scent Bar downtown LA today. Gonna be a staple this summer. Happy Juneteenth

So fizzy and bright. Shimmering fruit in the sun on a nice summer day with a perfect breeze. When I first smelled this, it genuinely made me stutter as I tried to put words together to describe my thoughts about it. It almost confused me! I really enjoy this fragrance for its novelty, I genuinely don't know if I would reach for it enough for a FB or anything at this point in my fragrance journey. Hopefully one day. It makes me miss the days before my collecting frenzy; when I had much more limited quantities of seasonal favorites-- I would definitely curate this to be my summer daytime signature.

A very tropical fruity opening with a dry amber intensity. Its also a bit syrupy to my nose which is not a bad thing, not what I was expecting. The papaya shines through pretty heavy in the opening, but is not overly funky like papaya can be. It doesn't seem heavy on the butyrates which is a plus for me since I am not the biggest fan of papaya. Blended very nicely.

The combination of guava, tangerine, and papaya is mouth-wateringly delicious for the first hour or so. I immediately wanted to get a full bottle, but glad I didn't because it eventually turns into a fruity kids shampoo. Leans feminine.

Fruity, dense, punchy, and playful. Smells like the red jungle juice at a dancehall basement party. Smells like summertime ‘95. Flirty as all hell!

Opens very tropical and fruity sweet with florals and amber.

I tried this because I'm trying to find some fruity fragrances I actually like. This one starts with STRONG tropical fruit. Definitely guava and papaya and maybe tangerine. Fruity but tart instead of sweet. Very juicy and natural fruit smell - no artificial notes. Reminds me of modern uprgaded version of fragrance from the 2000s. Faint finish of white chocolate but I think only the wearer could detect it. The search continues for interesting wearable fruit scent(s) for myself, but this is definitely a quality perfume.

Received a sample of this with my FB purchase of House, it's nice but the papaya is just too much for me. Take my findings with a grain of salt as I don't like the smell of papaya at all. I do get some of the guava as well, I own Tales From Zanzibar and this to me isn't all that similar. Again, a nice scent, I haven't smelled anything bad from ZG, I just wish the tangerine and papaya weren't center stage.

I have a sample, and though I’ve yet to sample this on skin, on paper it’s a very masculine citrus fragrance. My husband said it smelled like cleaning spray.

Oh it’s tropical alright, in that BO way. Starts pretty sharp like a lot of colognes and mellows into a still sharp grapefruit, bitter rind and all. Guava and grapefruit give me the same BO, so while grapefruit isn’t, I feel close seeing guava and tangerine in the notes. That’s it. The scent is not bad as natural BO, but definitely not as a perfume.

I think I disagree with some of the other reviews here when I say this fragrance is beast mode for me. A few sprays and MAN, I got a big payoff. Intensely juicy, fruity papaya and tangerine. I did not like Tales from Zanzibar at all, but I love this. The woody base keeps it grounded, it almost leans a little masculine to my nose, so I layered it with Vanilla Skin from Phlur to sweeten it a little more. Really lovely.

Initial spray you get a lot of the fruity notes but once it dries down it became very boozy and completely masculine on my skin. Just like a cheap men’s cologne with a little bit of papaya. Not for me, but maybe on someone else’s skin it comes off much better.

Super guava-y which is kinda bad :/
