Fougèriste

Breaking Dawn. Scrupulously tidy. Strong personality. Opens with a subtle receding sweetness. woody floral fresh. slightly earthy-phenolic (green) slightly sharp. A tad bit warm musky. I get scared of standout florals but this is made unbelievably agreeable. Normally scents like this turn invasive but this one is authentic/no-pretence at all and supportive and stays by your side. A contemporary genius. Usually when one finds sth like this one is inclined to find more like this. But specifically in this case it’s an outstanding performer so if one is wise enough, just stockpile.

For me, this is the liquid form of Spring, a Spring where you're in an overly saturated green fantasy meadow landscape with rolling hills, trees casting shade under a bright sun, one you'd find in fantasy shows, games, anime, etc. It's like a very refreshing breeze with a soft but present green atmosphere. It actually quite reminds me of IA's The Soft Lawn, which I love, but this is like the better, more realistic, more well-executed version of that. This is the perfect Spring fragrance imo

Starts out citrusy and soapy. There is the familiar fougere backbone but with more floral and animalic touches. Thus, this fragrance gives more of a “perfumy” and less of a “cologne” vibe, if you know what I mean. Therefore, I would rate Fougeriste as unisex, maybe leaning masculine. The performance is great. I get room-filling sillage for about an hour and a half to two hours. I can still pick up wafts 10hrs later.

This is from an official sample from Luckyscent, and I would need a full wear to really compare. However until then... The opening has the aquatic, semi sweet and floral aspect/vibe that is mentioned before, but when it started to dry down it was soooo familiar to me. I must have gone through my entire collection before I realized it was close to Egoiste Platinum. At first I thought of Chevrefeuille (Creed) as well as possibly Rive Gauche, but smelled again and was like, nope! I love Platinum Egoiste so am ashamed it took me so long to put together. It’s not the exact same, it still has other notes that make it different, but the overall similarities are there for sure. In the same way that I’d compare Platinum to Le Barbier de Tanger, they have enough similarities but veer in slightly different directions.. this is the same type of comparison to my nose. All three have differences while also having a lot of overlap. The most unique aspect of this fragrance while testing was the short lived opening, which was very nice. I will test again until the sample is gone, but for now... it seems like something that is not unique enough to justify paying $190 for 30mL. Not to me anyways. Outside of that, it does seem like a high quality and well blended fragrance, so if that’s your type of fragrance and you don’t mind paying that, by all means go for it!

Fuzzy lavender, aquatic accord, sweet oakmoss, violet, patchouli, coffee, galbanum and pissy musk. If you like 80's/90's powerhouse fougeres with less overtly loud synthetics and more naturals - this is your jam.

Lovely fougere with a mild aquatic salty freshness. Masculine, but I could wear it too. 9/10
