Goya Black Rose

Mmmm, a sweet and light delight. This has a vintage feel, like holding a gorgeous rose bouquet, would be fabulous for a wedding, it is romantic, with subtle sensuality making it suitable for all ages. This is real rose, not the cheap rose geranium which is often used in substitute.

This is certainly a nostalgia-fest for anyone of a certain age. Starts off with a strong, spicy rose blast, dries down into a perfumed powdery old style foundation rosiness, lasts forever. Used to come with an endless array of associated products - rose shaped soaps, scented lipstick, dusting puffs like big pink roses, etc. Loved it for years and this re-release is wonderful. Now if only someone would recreate Yardley's Sea Jade. As an aside, the owner of Goya, Chris Collins, (he inherited the business from his father, who had a great interest in fragrance) was a very unusual man, with the dual talents of being a fearless, world class horseman and having a brilliant mind for creating beauty products, a somewhat rare blend in one person.

Remember the original from when I was a very small child. Therefore for me it is the ultimate comfort scent for the nostalgia factor. It is also a pretty fresh rose scent but with great longevity. Recommend if you can pick it up at a reasonable price.

Generic artificial rose geranium. No green. No cloves. Not complex enough to have Jasmine. Just a one dimensional rose geranium that reminds me of a (probably scented) baby doll I had when I was little.

Goya No. 5 was the first perfume I used at age 12 when I was living in England. I loved that fragrance so much and felt very grown-up wearing it. I'm so sad that it apparently has been discontinued.

Old fashioned in a lovely way. Mum’s makeup bag, powder and lipstick. Such a comforting and nostalgic smell, you just have to keep burying your nose into your skin
