I picked up a bottle of Puro by Fueguia 1833 in SoHo today, and like many fragrances from the house, this one is a journey. Do not make a decision based solely on the opening. The drydown is where it truly comes alive. It opens beautifully with boozy whiskey, aromatic Cuban cedar, and blonde tobacco leaf. As it settles, the tobacco becomes warmer, sweeter, and incredibly addictive, with subtle musk, oud, leather, and resinous woods adding depth. I typically gravitate toward dark, deep, resinous fragrances, and Puro feels like a warmer-weather version of that style. It is lighter and smoother, but it still has the texture and grit I need. It is not a huge projector, which I personally love, and it stays on my skin for 4-6 hours. I also learned today that Fueguia will no longer be producing it. The house sometimes discontinues fragrances when it can no longer source a particular material, and Fueguia is not a company that cuts corners or compromises a formula. IMO, Puro is perfectly unisex. I do not find it especially masculine, but I would not describe it as feminine either. It sits beautifully in the middle and could be worn effortlessly by anyone.

One of the loveliest perfumes created around tobacco (a note I am not a huge fan of), this simple masculine beauty is a must try for tobacco lovers. The perfume opens on a lovely cedar note, leading to the central leafy tobacco and it settles on the gumbo-limbo tree resin (incensy turpentine like) and plant based musk. A simple composition like most of this exceptional line, the scent has moderate sillage an very good longevity. Like being in a lush tropical Cuban plantation. Enjoy!
