Diamond Jubilee Bouquet

This is a breathtakingly beautiful perfume, sadly I have only a sample and as only 500 bottles were apparently made it is unlikely to fall into my hands any time soon. And it is a shame this was such a limited run because this really is just gorgeous. I felt a surge of excitement as I sprayed the sample onto my skin, for the scent weaving its way up to my nostrils was, as another reviewer states, exquisite. This is the height of femininity, such a gorgeous bouquet this is. delicate, floral, a gossamer whisp of aroma that unfurls around the body and radiates from the skin. This is a wonderful floral I didn't know I needed until I smelled it. I felt bad for my poor little sample, being neglected until now, and so unassuming, from the list of notes I expected a standard rose-violet-iris type scent, but this is just so much more. The sillage is just divine. One thing I have noticed is that while the wafts of sillage are just sublime, if I press my nose closer the the skin this smells "thinner" and a little sharper, yet from more than a couple of inches away smells incredible. Not sure why! I get a tartness from the citrus, I get a stunning bouquet of beautiful florals, the amber, vanilla and vetiver are not distinguishable for me, but they perhaps influence the flowers to turn them into such beauty. I realise this is not the most informative review, I just seem to be stating that I love it repeatedly, but with more words. But this scent does the talking. I feel sad that I will likely never own a bottle of this, it retailed for about £200 for 50ml which is on the pricey side and yet I would happily pay that much (if I had it) to be able to wear this regularly. I have been impressed with this house so far and intend to sample further. Sillage is beautiful and moderate, longevity is reasonable at around 5 hours - would prefer better longevity.

Diamond Jubilee Bouquet is the last of my Grossmith samples to test, and what a good note to end on. My general feeling with this brand is that while their modern compositions are good, they generally cannot compete with the trio of original perfumes from the turn of the century, revived for a modern audience thanks to the discovery of the original handwritten formulas (Hasu-no-Hana, Shem-el-Nessim and Phul-Nana). However, DJB is the best of the new compositions (with Saffron Rose being a close second). A beautiful iris-focused floral, it gives the aforementioned trio a run for their money. Dry and powdery yet airy and green, it is objectively excellent as well as appealing to my personal taste. DJB opens with powdery, rooty orris, reminiscent of Chanel La Pausa. It is dry here, even slightly dusty initially, becoming more airy and powdery as it develops. Hay-like narcissus follows, polleny and green, with some green lily-of-the-valley adding a delicate fresh edge. Iris remains after the aforementioned florals subside, joined by a beautiful powdery violet note. Clove-like carnation follows, complementing the violet beautifully. Dry, woody vetiver emerges as it dries down, with dry, powdery vanilla adding just the right amount of sweetness. It becomes musky with a slight vanilla-amber accord detectable as it fades, with just a whisper of grassiness remaining. Sillage and longevity are moderate. An elegant, timeless feminine scent, DJB is a thing of beauty. Vintage-style yet wearable for a modern audience, it is classic in style and tailor-made for springtime. I just wish the performance was better, considering the price. Beautiful regardless. 4.5/5.

Sparkling diamond stardust, precipitation of rainbow-like dreams. The fragrance is airy, crystalline and clear, yet light and dense. Made by Grossmith to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's Millennium. The prototype should be 1897, the Victorian Bouquet created by Grossmith to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Queen Victoria's accession to the throne. Diamond Jubilee Bouquets has amber undertones. In spring, the misty floral fragrance is filled with the warmth of amber, the sweetness of vanilla, the blooming roses, orris root and violets. In autumn, the classical flavors of heliotrope, fennel and Carnation are added, the femininity of jasmine and orange blossom. Texture of Diamond Jubilee Bouquets, from the compressed powder, it expands and swells into a cloud of soft blues, yellows, greens, pinks and purples, rolling in the wind in the sky. Do you remember L'Heure Bleue and Apres L'Ondee too? Top-quality materials and exquisite recipes. Each of Grossmith's fragrances has a special vibe. Diamond Jubilee Bouquets are indeed Victorian or Edwardian. Nice to try this ancient scent.

Diamond jubilee bouquet is a gorgeous, a fresh floral accord atop a classy, naturalistic, creamy and rounded iris/orris powder, shocked with mild greens and purples. I say 'natural' because it doesn't seem to break up into sweet carrot slop or individual papery ionones, nor is it complete powdery, parma violets affair, it's strikes a lovely balance, as does everything Grossmith have put in a bottle to my recollection. It's a little timid in terms of lasting power and impact and perceived value, especially at these prices, but hey let's not crucify it for that, thank goodness Grossmith haven't resorted to keeping up with trends or making big noxious bombs, attempting to be the next big thing in luxury perfume, especially surprising as they strive to make it in the middle eastern market. A fine perfume then, the opening few minutes is nothing short of magic and is worth wearing for that alone, but compared with the other excellent offerings from this house it ranks somewhat lower.

[Nov. 2020] I think this may be hard to believe... but check Grossmith for the Diamond Jubilee Bouquet again. I Have Two Spoilers: 1. This coveted perfume, which was once limited to 500, is back in stock. 2. It's being sold at not £475, but £185 for 50 ml! I preferred the design of this perfume over Grossmith's Nessim anyway. ...Into my collection this goes. Let's go!!
