JV x NJ Crimson

Prologue: I was reading what T-MacJr21 said and initially thought "Yeaaah...it DOES smell like..." but then after spraying both, realized there is too much seaweed in my bottle of Absolu Instinct to compete with the leathery nuance of the JVxNJ. If they were people, they'd be at the same party, but hanging with different crowds (IMO). :End I did a dumb reach for this the other night, when temps were a bit lower, and sprayed it on my neck and shirt as I rushed out the door. As I drove to meet my friend for dinner, I didn't get the rum, or apple, but did keep getting whiffs of sweet ambery-woody-leather (FWIW, my bottle is a 3/2019 batch). After about an hour or so though, I couldn't smell it anymore. Fast forward to going from dinner, to last-minute Christmas shopping, and then parting ways hours later. My friend texted me shortly after leaving about how good I smelled. I must have been under some serious fragrance anosmia because I couldn't smell it at all. The following day, however, I decided to just throw on the shirt I had on for a few hours the night before to go run an errand, and when I did the required "smell check" I thought: "HOLY $#!+ THAT SMELLS GOOD!" and then remembered what it was I was wearing...and when I applied it. Almost 18 hours after I initially applied the fragrance, and this stuff was just radiating off my shirt like I had been doused it a bathtub full of it, and I maybe had 3-4 sprays on it. **Note to anyone who is reading this and currently creating fragrances and want longevity: ADD INCENSE!!** I'm convinced that's what a fragrance needs to last longer. This gave me Dylan Blue vibes with added leather/suede, and as much of a lover as I am of Dylan Blue, I now am of this. This is Dylan Blue for the Fall/Winter (would it be called Dylan Red?🤔). I don't remember where I got this, when I got this, or how much I paid..and frankly, it wouldn't matter, because I'd get it again. No matter what it costs or where you have to go to get it, if you can, you absolutely should. 🎶"You got me in chains...but, I wouldn't change, no I wouldn't change this love"🎶 10/10

John Varvatos JV x NJ Crimson is a really nice fragrance. To my nose it smells like what should be a flanker to Polo Red. I mean it has a number of Polo Red and Polo Red flanker notes. Coffee (common with most Polo Red flankers), green apple (as seen in Rush), cedar (as seen in Polo Red EDP and Rush), saffron (in Polo Red and Intense), suede (which can be confused with leather like in Intense), amber (another note common with most flankers), lavender (again is another common note among flankers), musk (in Rush and EDP) and labdanum (in EDP.) This fits with Polo Red just with a unique rum addition and the coffee hits you much earlier. That said of the Polo Red line, this misses the trademark cranberry note in the open. That said, I cannot really complain here due to the booze and coffee mix. Crimson opens with that rum and coffee mix. It comes off as a toned down coffee and the rum note dies off a bit as the fragrance settles. I notice a slight woodiness from the cedar and some apple from the rum. The mid I notice similar to Polo Red is that saffron and amber with a heavy amount of leathery suede. In the base, I really only notice the musk but I know labdanum can give off a musky profile too. Crimson is a like most Polo Reds and a great office or date scent. One good thing with Crimson is due to its pricing versus Polo Red (even in the discounters) you can spray it all day and replace it. Hell, besides Intense, Crimson performs as good, if not better than Polo Red line (haven't tried Extreme since it doesn't have cranberry.) Crimson works in fall, winter and spring days and nights. I notice that Crimson will last 5 to 6 hours. JV x NJ Crimson I rate an 8 similar to the original Polo Red. I liked the original blue bottled JV x NJ fragrance from John Varvatos, but I think Crimson is better. It is rather unique, even if it copies a lot of Polo Red flankers. The rum does it. I love rum notes and this has it.

So the first two Nick Jonas scents are kind of meh. How good is the Red "Crimson" release? One word. Amazing. If you can, go to either a Ulta, or Boscovs as I know they definitely have testers. That's where I tried it and fell in love. It reminds me of a different version of Dark rebel. This has some amazing Rum, coffee, leather notes I just can't stop smelling. It's deep smooth and sweet all together. Incredibly sexy smelling. Masculine af. Only thing I hated is that it's a limited edition and my first bottle I hunted on eBay for $50 and I definitely want a back up asap before they are all gone. This is a must have scent if you are a man. I'll wear this any time anywhere with no cares it's such a badass scent. I love dark rebel but I can see that not working everywhere as it's seriously badboy scent but this one is like the bad gentleman scent. It's so good! If you like not boring scents and wanna smell badass. Go try it out and you'll likely love it. If you get the chance at a cheap bottle below $50 consider it an instant buy. This one will be collectible for sure. Presentation is pretty with a lovely crimson paint that fades to black, metal and leather keychain, and strong metal cap. John Varvatos has earned a life time fan.

So - i have to say, this was one that i have been eagerly awaiting since i had initially caught news of the its release. I emailed john varvatos on several occasions and was told that this is a one time run and will not be re-released - but was scratching my head, as i had not come across it anywhere - not online, not in stores etc. Then, thankfully, i was alerted that people were seeing this in dillards. luckily, it was there! so...first spray... uhh...disappointment. i have to say, i was totally underwhelmed. however, i proceeded forward with my purchase to complete the collection. 10 minutes in, i'm glad i did. i don't think the note breakdown necessarily portrays this accurately. this is more of a cold-spice than an ambery warm spice. this has LIGHT coffee and musk - paired with a sharp apple - so the overall tone is on the cool side and not warm. With that said - it can sort of smell like a hair product - but regardless, i'm really enjoying it. it doesnt smell like other offerings in the line - or other offerings in the market currently (that i've smelled) for that matter. Overall i'm extremely pleased with this - it's an easy every day wear and i couldn't be happier. plus...best looking bottle out there! 7/10

For some reason, I blind bought this. No regrets at all. I have come to enjoy this scent whenever I put it on. Not gonna lie, I bought two more bottles as back-up to ensure I have two more from the same batch. I don't think this fragrance will stay in the main rotations for a long time, so I expect a reformulation or discontinuation within a year or so. The scent itself is something I love. It's cooling and fresh but has a deeper complexity that's almost fizzing out of the bottle. I do get a slight coffee note that blends well inside the juice. I do think you could wear this all year-round because of it's nicely contrasting notes. Longevity is average along with its projection. It is definitely a safe, mass-pleasing, and wonderful scent. I'm 23 and do think it is going to fit in with the younger age group. I understand where all the dislikes for it, but I honestly really like it coming from my own olfactory senses. Longevity: 7/10 (5-6 hours) Projection: 7/10 (1.5 hours) Scent: 9.25/10 (Love)

Let me give you a review that’s straight. I timed my sprays to see how long I get. I got between 4 to 6 hours, and a couple of extra hours on top of the that because it was on my clothes. The next morning when I got up and put on the same sweater pow, there it was again. To me, this is something special. It’s spicy. Not just a little spicy, but the base of this one is spicy. I get spice and leather, as well as the coffee. I walked around the mall a bit the next day after putting on several sprays, and was complimented by 3 people, and one of them was another guy (wanting to know what I was wearing). Varvatos colognes usually get a lot of hate in the reviews, and I’m assuming it’s because of some of their other scents not preforming to everyone’s standards. I don’t follow hate trends. This one’s special and I like it. Longevity-6 Silage-6 Scent-8 Components in one day 4/4 Overall-7.5-10

Just bought this today from the clearance section at my PX. I got the 4.2 FL. OZ. bottle for $15 dollars. I didn't know anything about the fragrance going in just that I was saving big on it. Figured if I didn't like it I'm only out 15 bucks and maybe one of my buddies would like it so I could pass it off to them. I'm pleasantly surprised though and I really like it. I didn't know I was getting the red version because it's not labeled, found out after the fact there were 3 versions, but after reading reviews on the other 2 I think I lucked out. Wore it out for dinner tonight with friends and got complimented on it outside the restaurant and again at the table from another friend. All in all for the price I'm really happy I bought this and plus the bottle looks great.

Went to my local TJ Maxx and Marshall’s.. TJ Maxx had absolutely nothing worth buying went to Marshall’s and I found a 2.5 oz bottle for $29.99 thought to myself no brainer.. Mannnn! This smells sooo good.. ZAP221 makes a lot of sense in his short review.. So let’s look at the presentation.. The bottle Is really nice looking with a solid lightweight metal cap.. I do not see any juice level at all even when held up to the light.. This reminds me of Big Red chewing gum at first.. with a nice smoky herbal Amber in the background.. I’m really shocked cinnamon is not a note in the opening.. The longevity is going strong for about 3-4 hours now but sits close to the skin.. This is all season all occasion.. Just incredible! While I know who Nick Jonas is I couldn't name one song he sings. I purchased this cologne because I like and collect John Varvatos colognes. You know, I don't hate this cologne. First the bottle is very attractive, as are almost all JV bottles. As for the fragrance, it is not unpleasing. This is a very busy scent and I have not developed my nose to differentiate all the notes listed here. It is comfortable and wearable in most situations. It is a warmer based fragrance but does have a fresh component to it. I suppose this comes from the apple or orange notes. It isn't a strong projector but it remains on the skin for several hours, not a full work day. It is reasonably priced and is a safe cologne in most situations.

What a fun scent! For me, it definitely gives off rocker vibes and can be worn for any occasion. The first thing I smell is an extremely strong rum that gives way to a fresh incense within minutes. It has a light quality to it that I can’t describe (Maybe that’s the more fruity notes?). It has impressive longevity! I applied it late in the evening, went to bed, and woke up still able to smell it. It also lasted all day for work application even if the smell got more intimate with time. To me, this is very unique, I don’t have anything to compare it to and it’s a shame they discontinued it, still got a bottle on Jomashop though! 😁😁

To me, the most incredible thing about this fragrance is the middle, where the saffron, suede and amber weave together to create this dreamy velvety mildly spicy sweet mix. Performance is not the best (actually blue has a way better performance and sillage), but I crave the middle so badly that am glad to re-spray. So the less-than-stellar performance actually works for me! YUMZ! As nice as it is, I agree with Oceansoflorewi that you probably won't get much specific use out of this one, but if you wear perfumes for your own olfactory pleasure, this is your jam!

Spicy. Red Hots... and like someone below said, Big Red gum. I don't get the coffee note, but, whatever this is, I like it a lot. Like the aforementioned gum can be chewed year-round, I think this can easily be worn most of the year. It's spicy but not in a way that would make it a winter-only frag. JVs tend to get panned for lacking longevity (which isn't true but everyone likes to repeat that nonsense). This one has plenty. I think this one should be rated above a 4 all day.

Love it. Just got so need to spend a few days with this. I get the sweetness of a scotch or cognac and the smell of mahogany I get where people talk about Dylan Blue but this is really like an apparitions that may or may not come and go. I was hopping to get the cinnamon in Big Red but for me that doesn't detract one wit. If you have Varvatos original then the warm spicy bar above also applies but no crappy gourmand style. Very sophisticated scent.

Like showing up to Wally World and it being closed! So this has horrible projection and even worse longevity. It smells just fine but farts linger longer than this. I don’t understand why Varvatos fragrances aren’t made with some umff..These would sell like hot cakes but as usual another 2 pump chump from the line. I hate being so negative ....so if you like a decent smelling scent that lasts for 20 minutes then I highly suggest this one.

Finally, a high-quality men’s fragrance. I was so sick of generic scents by the time I found this original character; it’s one of the best Varvatos perfumes and one of my absolute favorites. It’s completely unique and very cool—I’m surprised it’s only available as a limited edition. The liqueur and coffee notes really energize the scent, making it masculine yet perfectly sophisticated. 10/10

To me this smells like a dark/smoother version of Azzaro Wanted by Night. It smells sexy and seductive, this is something a “mysterious man” would wear. I’d suggest wearing this on a date night or a night out in general. Im currently wearing this today with 25°F weather and it’s perfect. I’m 22 and it’s definitely suitable for people 20-30yrs, but ofc to each their own.

Out of all of my fragrances, this one has gotten me more unsolicited compliments from strangers. That says a lot about this one. Playful fruits of apple and bergamot, with a nice drydown of lavender and musk is perfect on a date that starts at a park throwing a Frisbee or flying a kite, then ending cuddled up on a couch talking about how fun the day was.

JV has the best fragrances for the price and not just for beginners. JV also has some of the worst performing fragrances. You take the good with the bad. As a collector I appreciate what the brand has brought to the table. This is a fine dumb reach kinda scent that’s hard to not like! Very well blended and non offensive.

Ive got a travel spray where you load your own cologne in it and I put half Crimson and half Davidoff Hot Water and it smells absolutely amazing it's the best winter scent in my opinion if you have them in your collection and also a travel refill spray mix them it's amazing

This cologne is absolutely amazing it is a winter beast of a fragrance smells wonderful everything you want in a scent for the cold days ahead. If you come by this at some point grab it you'll be pleased with yourself as I am right now

Glad I waited 3 years before buying considering Varvatos fragrances get heavily discounted after some time. Definitely a cold weather scent. Mainly saffron and rum.

I just blind bought this one here and it's fabulous I love it you feel like you've smelled it before yet it's so amazing and unique I love it and still testing it

First, I'd like to say that I have seven (7) of John Varvatos's creations. And I've enjoyed them all especially JV Platinum & Artisan Pure. This house produces fragrances that are a bit different from the rest of the upper echelon designers with some bordering on niche quality in scent & character. And I give JV credit for being true to that core mission that they have established from day 1. And that is to produce unique fragrances that are of quality ingredients and composition. Sadly, as the whole world knows including grandma, JV's products suffer greatly in three of the most important factors/criteria on what niche crazies, perfume fanatics and the regular Joe's look for in a fragrance. Sillage, projection and longevity. In essence, calling their fragrances average performers is being generous. As I stated before, there are a few stand outs but, far to few in my opinion. If it weren't for those three negatives, this designer would be considered a powerhouse in the fragrance world as their juices are very unique and bold. Now, here we have a creation from JV in conjunction with Nick Jonas in JV X NJ Crimson. Had to give it a shot as it was very affordable at under $35 US at an online perfume discounter. Two wearings in and I'll say this. It's the first John Varvatos creation that to me, smells like most of what every designer under the sun is going for today. A crowd pleaser for the masses with just a subtle touch of the JV dna in quality and blend. From the very opening I get a spicey, sweet amber with a touch of woods that hangs for about 15-20 minutes or so. After that it turns into a soft suede like sweet leather with a bit of amber in the background mingling with a soft musk. It's actually quite nice and pleasing to my nose. My GF thought it smelled smooth and comforting but, didn't scream a deep masculinity at all in which I happened to agree. 2 sprays in the chest one in the neck this morning and I still get light whiffs of it. I sprayed it on at 6am. Now 3:30 in the afternoon and it is still there but, very close to the skin. Projection and sillage is perhaps an hour at best and all skin after that. Perhaps a few extra sprays might give one the extra oomph for projection and I'll try it it to see how it goes. Again, another one of JV's creations that one says "What could have been" if it had better performance and staying power. The scent is quite nice and no one will say you smell bad. Problem is they'll have to be right in your face to catch a nice whiff of it to say so. The plus is it's cheap and has a gorgeous bottle/flask with really good presentation. Not unique enough to be considered a must have, sadly.

Blind bought a 4.2oz tester for only $30......just sprayed it on right now. Initial thoughts are.... At first blast, I get all suede/leather vibes....not much else. As it starts to settle in, I sense the spices coming through, but to me it smells like cinnamon even though it’s not listed as a note. Pretty much this is a light evening time fragrance. I don’t detect any top notes at all, it just jumps right into the base and mid notes really. There’s nothing fresh about this. It’s very rugged and manly.....but it’s light and subtle. I don’t detect any coffee or fruits of any sort. It has a lighter and soft Burberry Brit vibe, which is very suede and leathery. All in all as expected, like many varvatos frags....it’s pretty tame and light. You can’t over spray this, and the life of this seem to be pretty short seeing as it just jumps right into the base notes.....it’s almost a Skin scent after immediately spraying it. It’s a good scent, but nothing wows me with it. It’s pretty basic all around. It’s not sexy, and for sure not a clubbing banger....perhaps a good scent for intimate use, but it’s not sexy enough to wow the ladies either. With this kind of scent profile and notes, one would think it’s gonna be bold and beastly, but it’s quite the opposite. It suffers the same performance fate as dolce gabbanas ‘the one’ where it’s nice and dark...but an instant skin scent. ———————————- Update: After a days wearing, and even reapplying it again mid day......the performance on this is just lack luster. I can barely get 3 to 4 hours with this. I can now see why it hit the discounter stores so early for being a late 2018 release.

It’s been a while since I first reviewed this scent, and while it initially wasn’t what I wanted it to be, I’ve come to love it for what it is. As a fifty year old man, I don’t get complimented on scent very often. But I do have a very attractive and fashion-conscious young female friend and co-worker who does comment on and appreciate my scent choices. When I wear this, she gets so close she practically rubs her nose on my neck and always praises this one. It seems to have some similar notes to something expensive she wears when we’ve gone out for coffee or lunch. Her most recent comment on this scent was “it’s got me feeling a certain kinda way”. That’s some powerful stuff right there. Just felt like I needed to sing some deserved praise for Crimson. Lasts longer than most JV on my skin too, which is a huge plus for this JV fan.

Bought this because I’m a huge Varvatos scent fan and the notes sounded intriguing. No interest in Jonas and haven’t smelled the other collabs. I’ve also heard it compared to Dark Rebel a couple times. I’m enjoying it, but it has a lot more in common with Star USA than it does with Dark Rebel. Certainly nothing like a Rebel flanker. Been looking for something like Rebel since it and many of my other faves are seemingly cancelled. I’m getting all the lighter notes, but not finding much incense or coffee. Was hoping this would be good for Autumn, but I’m not sure about that. I’m getting an early “winter just ended” Spring vibe. Or maybe Dark Rebel just owns Autumn and Winter for me so nothing can compare. Smells nice. /sad face

JV x NJ Crimson: Has very nice opening and reminds you of a few other famous green aromatic perfumes. But after 3 mins its just a good twin of Jaguar Pace(2016), which in turn is quite similar to Hugo by Hugo Boss(1995 - the blue bottle/green strap one). It was a big let down as I expected much more based on various online reviews. Never expected a such copycat from JV. (Have several other JVs which are all unique and beautiful - Vintage, JV original, Artisan, Artisan pure etc. ) Surprised that no reviewer mentioned the similarity with the above two. Overall its a good scent if you like Pace and Hugo. Nothing new. Projection & Longevity are OK.

This was less original for me and very familiar. It is a nice spicy and fresh scent that lasts about 5 hours and sits on your clothes for quite a while. Apple and fruity notes and a leathery, incense amber combo make up the scent at first spray. It gets muskier as it dries and It's great for everyday cool weather wear. In my collection it reminds me of the best parts of Dylan Blu by Versace and Wanted by Night by Azzaro mixed together. It's also close to Armaf Craze Noir. I like the scent most out of these but Azzaro WbN performs better. Good buy overall!

It does smells like a lighter Versace Dylan Blue mix with Big Red Chewing Gum.Its inoffensive with sex appeal to it.I get a full day of staying power and about 6 to 8 hours before it becomes a skin scent.I don’t really detect much coffee but I’m assuming the cinnamon smell is coming from the suede and saffron. But I do feel like it’s smells more like Dylan Blue more than Polo Red.Its a keeper for sure for a 4.2 oz for under $40 and the bottle is Crimson Pearl.(which the bottle color match the smell)7/10

If you see this in a rack store somewhere make sure to pick it up. It’s pretty good for $25 anything over $30 isn’t worth it. It smells like cinnamon the coffee adds some darkness and the apple isn’t a juicy apple it smells more like a red apple not a green apple and the saffron is used more like a spice not like in Prada amber pour homme. Very good, if you see any other John Varvatos fragrances make sure to buy them as well, they are all pretty good.

Am I crazy for thinking this fragrance isn't bad at all...? In fact, I think it actually smells pretty good! It opens with a unique combination of fruit, coffee, and rum. As it dries down you got a smooth/subtle mix of the saffron, musk, and suede notes. To my nose this is more of a fresh/fruity spicy fragrance more than a warm spicy one. All in all, this one honestly surprised me. I'd suggest giving this one a sniff, as it may surprise you as well.

JV x NJ Red (Crimson) reminds me strongly of these three fragrances: Ralph Lauren Polo Black, Zirh Corduroy and Calvin Klein Reveal Men - it's almost like a mix of them. Starts a lot fresher (tropical fruit kind of fresh like Polo Black and Reveal) than I expected, not quite as sweet or potent as Reveal, but sweeter than Corduroy. Nice, casual kind of a scent, easy to wear, but kinda redundant due to the similarities to the aforementioned scents.

Me too, I don’t get the coffee or maybe my nose just isn’t as sensitive as it should be. Lol Got this coz of the Nick Jonas x JV collaboration. Nick is awesome and so’s his wife Priyanka. That other Jonas Joe is just too much drama... I do like the scent a lot but it’s not the first thing I’d reach out for in the morning but it is very pleasing and enjoyable.

Opening and mid are amazing. Apple, leather and Bergamont are prominent it’s a good leather too very realistic. Lavender is pretty much there throughout. This isn’t a linear scent it definitely changes. far dry down is pretty forgettable. I picked it up for 30 bucks at Ross Which is a good price I would be disappointed if I paid anything more than 40.

Very nice opening...I get a Cherry Leather vibe which dries down to a deep musk. This scent silliage is good for a little less than 2 hours then dries close to skin for me. This review is not on a full wearing but a test spray to the wrist while sitting around the office. Love the scent and wish it lasted longer.

I have a few Varvatos that my husband and I really enjoy. While Crimson is nice, it seems to get lost in our collection. We simply forget it’s there. Not memorable, quite forgettable unfortunately. I gifted it to a teenage boy who might enjoy it.

There is always good quality in JV perfumes. They always smell expensive, creative and refined. Given this is winter fragrance, the performance is bad unfortunately.

I think it's the saffron that's keeping me from really enjoying this. Saffron is good in food, not so much, for me at least, in fragrance. 7/10

It's a good smell, not super unique, but the performance is bad even by JV standards. I normally don't mind the mild performance of the house--just spray more y'all, it's not a big deal at those prices--and it hasn't stopped me from purchasing 6 other JV fragrances. This one might have been number 7 but it's like a ghost. I did half a dozen sprays on my shoulder while wearing a tank top and then working out (at home, don't worry), and I STILL can't smell anything unless I literally touch my nose to my shoulder to sniff.

Gives me Polo Red (classic) vibes but there's just something in it that my nose doesn't find quite well. I'm culling this from my collection.

2/22/22 update: i've worn this fragrance now on several occasions ... at first, i was very upset with the way it smelled and it performed ... i didn't like the sweet and sour scent of apples and cinnamon, and i also didn't like that it performed very poorly ... however, the last few times i've worn it... i'm starting to come around and really enjoy the warm, spicy, and tart scent.... yes, very similar to polo red, but without the strong musky dry down of polo red... crimson keeps its sweet and tart scent through out its lifespan... but my disdain for its projection and strength is still here... however, i would actually recommend it to somebody who likes cinnamon and apple scents because the price is good if you can get it around $30 at your local rack store for a 4.2 oz

Don't be fooled like me. I was excited to see this at Marshalls for $30 and snapped it up because I had tested it long ago and saved it to my list. Here's the problem, I tested blue which I think is the original. I didn't realize this was a flanker. The box appears black at first glance, but you can see the crimson if you move it around under different lights. I couldn't find any lettering on the box that differentiates red from blue to silver. The rum and apple notes are prominent on the open. Then it turns into this strange, cheap cinnamon smell. At the end of the day, I finally realized it reminds me of snickerdoodles. Luckily, I kept the box, packaging and receipt and Marshalls took it back without question.

I feel that the notes which is listed in this perfume's pyramid do not match the scent it gives us. In fact, I didn't smell apple or coffee in it. With these notes, a delicious warm and oriental scent is expected from it, but its gourmand notes are nothing more than a mirage, instead the woody-amber and bergamot notes are stronger and give the perfume a "fresh" feeling. Amber here is not a warm amber like the one has been used in Ambre Russe and Psychedelique, but similar to the generic amber found in today's designer perfumes such as Explorer, Sauvage, etc. Perfume companies have realized that this synthetic note has a magical property in attracting public taste and therefore in most of their perfumes, this note is embedded (often in large quantities to be seen more and attract more buyers). While this synthetic amber plays the main role in this perfume and the population of similar perfumes, the rest of the notes has a wild-goose chase. Personally, I went to it hoping to see a different scent (seeing notes such as saffron, apple, coffee and rum is charming and beautiful) and I wish instead of this huge volume of generic amber note, those notes were stronger; but...Meh! As someone who has always been a fan of designer perfumes, I give the lowest position in my perfume shelf to it. احساس میکنم نت های عطر چندان با رایحه ای که به ما میده همخوانی نداره. واقعیتش من نه بویی از سیب توش احساس کردم و نه از قهوه. با این نت هایی که براش درج شده طبیعتا ازش بیشتر انتظار یه عطر گرم، شرقی و خوشطعم میره، ولی نت های گُرماندش سرابی بیش نیست و روایح چوبی-امبری و برگاموت قوی تر هستن و به عطر حس و حال فِرِشی دادن. امبر در اینجا یه کهربای گرم نظیر آنچه که در عطرهای آمبر روس و پسیکدلیک به کار رفته نیست، بلکه مشابه امبر رایج و جنریکی هست که تو عطرای دیزاینری امروزی نظیر اکسپلورر (مونبلان) و سوواژ (دیور) و ... وجود داره. شرکت های عطرسازی به این نکته پی بردن که این ماده خاصیت جادویی در جذب سلیقه عموم داره و به همین خاطر تو بیشتر عطرهاشون این نت رو میچپونن. حالا بقیه نت‌ها هم اون پشت یه دست و پایی میزنن اما نقش اصلی رو در این عطر و جمعیت عطرهای مشابه همین امبر جنریک ایفا میکنه. شخصا به امید دیدن یه رایحه متفاوت سراغش رفتم (دیدن نت هایی نظیر زعفران، سیب، قهوه و نوشیدنی رام، دلفریب و زیباست) و ای کاش به جای این حجم از رایحه امبری مصنوعی، قدرت به آن نت ها داده میشد. برا من‌ی که همیشه طرفدار عطرای دیزاینری بودم دیدن همچین عطرایی ناامیدکننده‌ست.

I've taken a good half a year to get to know this fragrance. First - there's nothing else like it. I have tried hundreds of fragrances in the designer realm and it is truly a unique gem. It's basically a festive cranberry / berry type scent for the colder months with fresh lavender fougere vibes mixed with subtle deeper base notes of leather and musk hiding behind the berry & lavender. I sort of get coffee but nothing prominent like Halloween Man X nor Givenchy Very Irresistible. Despite how beautiful is; I can't see myself going to work, a date, nor a bar/ club wearing this. I would sort of categorize this into something like Burberry London where its used for casual holiday type special occasions/ day time casual cold weather wear. I might even use this as a winter gym scent; Gourmand freshie- I sort of get sporty vibes in this too. All in all, not the most versatile scent because of how sweet and casual it smells but definitely unique enough to pick up for your collection! 8/10

I agree with jason elliot... This is... nice. Its.. Ok. But was expecting a bit more... I also thought this would be great for Fall and it is ok for Fall. Like Jason said, I tend to pickup the lighter airier notes with only hints of the Suede, Coffee, Amber, Rum, Incense, etc.. It's like they wanted to push it a bit and make something almost daring... But then got cold feet and backed things out to make it more mass appealing. Bc of this... It doesn't have the greatest identity, as in, when do you wear this and for what type of occasion? Fall? Spring? Night out? Office maybe? Maybe that's the point - Something a lot of guys feel they could wear when and where ever.. But for me... It makes me pause and question and then I usually end up passing on it for something else. For the price - It's a decent pickup.

Another NJ collaboration? I thought Crimson would be a "joke." It's not. On paper, it seems like a scent for the younger crowd. On my skin, this juice is chic, smells almost intoxicating. It opens with rum, coffee, and tangy apple, a hint of woods, and amber. But unlike a lot of sweet colognes that become nauseatingly sweet, Crimson has a distinct freshness underneath with a musky, clean vetiver and gentle florals. The soft suede and incense provide a slight smokiness rounding out the fragrance nicely. A worthwhile addition to any scent wardrobe without a similar one. Nothing astounding. Just a sexy evening cologne for spring, fall, and/or wintertime. Longevity: just over 5 hrs. Sillage: about 2.5hrs. 7/10.

I give up! I am a huge fan of almost every Varvatos cologne but I am soooo done with the pathetic projection, sillage and longevity of this house. Granted, his colognes are inexpensive, but having to re apply every hour is thoroughly annoying. What is more annoying, is that this has been the common complaint on every Varvatos cologne I know of for about a decade now. This house knows it has the projection, sillage and longevity of tap water but they don't do anything about it! Come on man! Get in the game and PUMP UP THE VOLUME! I would gladly pay for better performance.

I don’t know what it is but this thing smells really good. Imagine it’s 60 degrees and you go out on a diner date and you spray this one, you’re gonna have most people that you walk by noticing something smells good as you pass them. Or for a chilly movie night with your lady, put this on and she’s not gonna want to stop hugging you or get off you. It just smells good, it’s definitely a scent for the younger people, I’d say 36 and lower. I would wear this all year if I could but it’s more for chilly fall days or winter nights, a Christmas party or stuff like that.

I found this at Marshalls. I've tested it at Ulta before, and thought it was great. I was looking for a patchouli and coffee fragrance, and this is a great spicy take on two already strong notes. The bottle was on sale, $25 for a 2.5oz bottle I think the bottle really represents the smell of this very well. I get some red wine/rum with a ton of aromatic saffron, and some sweet fruity bases. It's not listed on the note breakdown, but smelling the bottle makes me think there is some ambroxan in this. This is a great spicy sweet fragrance.
