However, if a short-lived fragrance is worth buying, because of its unique scent, this is it. It is a nice-to-have. BLIND-BUY: Yes, but only if you are familiar with its main notes. Calvin Klein Eternity Air is a very fain, juniper berries, and ozonic fragrance; Georgio Armani Code Absolu is a very good sweet, tonka, vanilla, mandarin, apple, and leathery fragrance; Grand Parfums Versace Eros is a great clone of Versace Eros; Jaguar Classic Black EDT, bitter orange, woods, apples, and musk, it is another great versatile and office-friendly fragrance; Mancera Jardin Exclusif is fruity, powdery, sweet, and musky; Versace Eros is an outstanding mint, apple, ambroxan, and woody fragrance; Lacoste Style in Play Red Men EDT is a delicious, unique, but short-lived, sweet, green apple and fresh woody fragrance. Who doesn't like Fresh-n-Fruity..?? Definitely a "Happy Fragrance"... While falling just outside my overall Top 10, Style in Play remains one of my top fragrances for Spring and Summer wear. On a sidebar - this bottle remains special - I received this bottle from my mother a few years ago as a Christmas present. After all these years, and plenty of presents, she continues to support my "fascination" or "cologne obsession". Thanks, Mom..!! Back to Style in Play... Out of the bottle, you will love the blast of citrus, fruity, and herbal notes that settles into a very pleasant scent that is aromatic and herbal/woodsy. To reiterate, Style in Play is ideal for Spring and Summer. This fragrance offers great flexibility in that it can be worn day or night and suitable for all ages. I even ponder the thought that it might be acceptable to be worn by females who live "on the edge" or "daring" enough to give it a shot... Longevity and projection/sillage are average at best, which to me are the most important qualities in a fragrance, but disappointing given how much I love the fragrance. I suppose that it is "par for the course" for those aromatic/fruity/herbal summer fragrances. The beauty about that is - Style in Play is "office safe" - feeling and smelling good without offending those with more sensitive noses. I have accumulated seven (7) Lacoste fragrances in my collection - Style in Play is my favorite and the one with the best longevity and projection/sillage... The bottle and packaging are first class. I am especially fond of the bottle - easy to hold, clear by design, with a red-tone finish. Nicely done... Due to the below average performance in longevity and projection/sillage, my final tally for Lacoste Style in Play is 4.2 stars out of 5. Given that I love this fragrance (and the sentimental value), I still endorse or recommend adding to your collection. Daily I.M. - "Build Character... Build Trust... They last a lifetime... But most importantly, pass it on..."

Another typical Lacoste frag to me. They always produce amazing scents that I just love, just to be let down by the garbage performance. Some reviews’ve claimed to have decent performance, but for me personally and the batch I’ve got, it’s terrible in terms of performance. Great “red” and “green” scent. A little sour sweet red apple and some green notes along with it. Super linear. Super fresh and uplifting. Super pleasant. Lots of compliments in the first 30 mins. No projection or sillage after that. Longevity is way below average at 3-4h at best (maybe 5-6 on clothes). I love wearing it just for the scent and I do wear it a lot for myself, but everytime I wear it I just keep feeling some what let down by the performance. Overall ratings: Scent - 8.5/10 Longevity - 4/10 Projection - 3/10 Sillage - 3/10 Versatility - 8/10. Any occasion for warm weather. Can be worn dressed up too if you really want to, but I wouldn’t recommend that. Compliments - 8/10 for the first 30 mins. After that probably 5/10 cuz of terrible performance. Presentation - 7/10. Unique bottle Overall rating - 6.5/10 cuz even tho I really like the scent, it’s not a love for me. That along with the terrible performance drags it down to a 6.5/10

I've smelled this many times before but not as much in this day and age. I rarely smell many men wearing fragrance at all.. But I digress. It is a familiar scent but not oversaturated. Sporty bottle, great atomizer. Heavy alcohol and apple smell upon application. The alcohol dissipates quickly and all I smell is apple. Underwhelming opening but give it a couple minutes. As it dries, I get a piney apple and vetiver scent with a little musk supporting it. A little spice from what I assume is the thuja. I don't smell patch or jasmine. This stays in this mode for the entirety of it's remaining wear which is good because it smells awesome! Unlike other scents from this time, this doesn't come across dated at all. It's versatile, for all age groups and any situation but formal. Longevity is quite good for a fresh spicy at around 8 hours (heavy trigger finger) and the sillage is respectable. At the price you can get this, it's a great inexpensive option!

By far the most memorable fragrance in my fragrance journey. It was my very first perfume and was given by my mother. My girlfriend just loves the smell of it. Wants to hug me out everytime I wear it lol. I finished my second bottle after i graduated college. Clean and somewhat sharp on the opening. It has a very strong apple note that retains on my skin throught its scent life. I don't know why but apple works like charm on my skin. Pretty linear fragrance but clean and relaxing on the dry down. Overall: Scent: 10/10(really love the smell. one of my favorite scents of all time. got tons of compliment in my college days) Projection: 8/10(projects nice on my skin maybe about 4 feet on a hot day for 2-3 hours) Longevity: 9/10(last for about 10 hours maximum) Age group: Anyone can pull this off. But I think it would work best on a teenage student because of the youthful vibe it delivers) Price: Pretty decent

Lacoste Style in Play was my first signature scent—and the first perfume I could truly connect with memories and emotions. Back when I was a teenager, I wore it to a New Year’s Eve party where I met my teenage girlfriend. The fragrance stayed with me all night and helped create those important, beautiful, life-affirming moments that are the reason I still love perfume today. Lacoste Style in Play was the first scent that formed that link between olfactory perception and happy memories. I loved it then and I still love it now. Sweet and extremely crowd-pleasing—mainstream and a safe blind buy. The performance wasn’t good at all, but back then you just sprayed more and you were happy. It’s a shame the fragrance was discontinued. I’d love to have it back in my collection. For anyone looking for an alternative: Gant 1949 (red) smells almost the same—with similar performance.

Lacoste Style in play was the first perfume i bought for myself when i was 16 years old (i already had a few other perfumes i got as presents). This was my own choice and it was a great choice indeed. I'm now 26, but i still love this sweet scent. I got a lot of compliments from girls, it is a memorable scent. My girlfriend really likes it as i wore this on our first dates about a year ago. Usually i wear it in spring/summer and at night in parties. The longevity is really good (usually 5-6 hours on my skin) and sillage is good too. If sprayed on clothes it stays there overnight... after parties i really liked that my clothes are still fresh and have nice smell. Fresh and simple smell, you can feel energetic and young with it. Although (as i can see now) there are better alternatives in this price range, this scent is still worth a try. You won't be disappointed.

I absolutely love this fragrance! This is the fragrance that first piqued my interest when I was 13. I fell in love with it then and have been in love ever since. It's not extravagent but smells sporty, classy and manly. I love how well the apple and jasmine work so well together and are complimented perfectly by the woody scents. It was my signature fragrance at one point in time and one that i would recommend to anyone but would prefer for them not to have, haha. I don't see very many situations where this wouldn't work well (of course not in cool-cold weather). My only complaint is that I wish it would last just a bit longer on my skin, I get about 5-6 hours tops. Its my favorite, its a family favorite, and I don't see how anyone could pass it up. I give this a: 9/10 p.s.-perfect summer fragrance as well

I cannot get over how surprised I was by this fragrance. It has, over time, surpassed all other colognes or EDT's to become my favorite scent. I love this stuff. The green apple is amazingly sweet and refreshing. It has an extremely unique quality that I can't compare to anything I've smelled before. Some people describe the scent as "sensual" to me, but I primarily smell the sweet fruit (but not overly feminine). The only problem I have is that it doesn't seem to last as long as a truly strong scent does. I can still smell it in the morning when I get up, but it doesn't seem to maintain its projection power past a few hours. That isn't fair! I want this great fragrance to last and last and last and last! Regardless, this is my current favorite scent. Amazing.

My god in heaven......I have a first batch bottle (approx 20 years old) of this in my hand right now and it is UNBELEIVABLY GOOD. But still single minded/simple. I’d recommend layering with a freshie like chrome. But, BUT..This is a simple but very unique scent, and she has done it favors in giving it depth. It reminds me of the good days of fragrance. No restrictions just ingredients and fun. Really delicious fragrance and top 5 goat. Since I was a kid I always detected this new car smell under the apple. It’s like apple, clear fresh water, fresh car leather. Amazing inspirational and fluid fragrance. It also has basically real ambergris, no typical Ambroxan smell in the slightest. A thicker, creamier, shiny ambergris type fixative.

I think, it’s very hard to create fresh, sporty fragrance, that is sensual and sexy at the same time. This one is! :) Annick Menardo managed to do that, well... no surprise, she’s genius. There is a lot of good sporty fragrances on the market, but not many of them have that special something, which that one has. It has also all the qualities that good signature scent should have. It’s clean, relaxing, not offensive, sexy and good for every season. Some of you might say, it’s synthetic. Well, so it’s like most of perfumes nowadays. This one was one of the first scents I bought for myself. It started my fragrance addiction.

it's fresh in a fruity/sour sense. it's not aquatic...slightly green - but overall it's a fruity/sour scent. it smells delightfully appropriate to its 2004 release date. it's in line with hugo, tommy, polo sport and the like. with that said - and being a guy who grew up in the 90's, this is a love for me. i'm not saying the scent itself blew me away, but it for sure triggers a deep, nostalgic set of memories. i was a junior in college when this was released and well...i have some memories. this is perfect for casual/office wear and is playfully brilliant. it's a love. go bearcats! 7/10

Style in Play has been my signature for years and and still it always brings back nice memories of good years. It is surprisingly potent for such a fresh pleaser. I get 8 hours out of it and projection is above average as well. It can be worn in the dead heat without any problems and never misses to refresh. Style in Play will always have its place in my collection. The bottle is nicely done and always a pleasure to pick up. It's really hard to find a weak spot...few may dislike that it doesn't shout out 'masculine' to the masses. Though that's not a handicap in my books.

This is not just a sport cologne. It is a very nicely done jasmine fragrance for men. I know at first it smells like green apples, but just to add a hint of freshness. What you get all the way is fresh spring Jasmine which is made masculine with cedar and patchouli. Well I cannot detect patchouli and cedar in a loud manner, but they surely do their job. This is maybe one of the best spring scents ever. It makes you feel happy, joyful, sexy without being too complicated. Lasting power is great too.

This stuff hasnt gone out of style and still remains unique imo. It has apple giving it a fruity tinge (some compare this to that DKNY be delicious) tho it is by no means feminine. The cedar and pine give this an effervescent fresh feeling, the apple make it sporty/playful and the musk rounds it all off and gives it a nice dry down. Projects well initially for an 1-2 hours then becomes skin scent for another 1-2 hours after then disappears. Blind buy worthy especially for the youthful male.

I have this gem since 2004. I got a new botle, I think my 4th or 5fh. This is a great scent, hidem gem for me and the best from Lacoste. So light, so fresh, so soft, so clean and, yet, so strong. This projects like a beast and has a monster longevity. Is so stange how a perfume that is so light and soft can have a beast kind of presence and performance. I got watermelon and apple. Air and clouds. Fruity!! This is a beautifull scent, for all seasons. LOVE LOVE LOVE! 10/10.

This is a great scent. It's strong and powerful while still remaining playful. It could easily be worn in the warmer months, but I think it's a more winter smelling fragrance. In fact, to me it smells exactly like a winter version of Kenneth Cole Reaction. I do not get the floral aspect like some others say. It's more like a fruity/woody musk. The musk can come off a bit strong if you over-spray, but it's not unbearable. Another score for Lacoste in my book.

It is a sexy scent, reminds me of "after sex" smell and I think its the slightly dirty musk it has. Yes the musk in this one has more refined animalistic scent that I adore It smells fruity, musky and bit floral on me. I cannot detect patchouli or cedar at all. The only problem for me is the sillage, it is very weak and becomes a skin scent after a short time even though I don't have a dry skin. Might consider buying another bottle in the future

To me, this is Roma Uomo’s juicier, sharper sibling in Annick Menardo’s fragrance family. Not to say they smell similar, but that they share the same fruity-but-green aesthetic. Gone are the bitter galbanum and basil, replaced with crisp pine and thuja. Roma’s vanillic heliotrope absent, the base of Style in Play is bolstered by a clean, bright musk. If Roma is an herbed creamsicle, SiP is a fir-kissed apple granita. I’m a fan.

Oh what a nice woody musky frag by Lacoste, Oh How I wish it could last longer. I think there should be an Intense version of style in play, so that it may last atleast 9 hours tops. But its funny bcoz style in play don't last on the skin for longer, bt would last on clothes for like two to three days. Afterall its a nice smelling frag and it doesnt even hurt the nose even if you oversprayed it by mistake .

This fragrance is great. After applying it yesterday for the first time. It sure did smell great. The green apple opening is great. I did receive the whole fruity apple note the whole duration of the fragrance. I sprayed it at 5:00 and it lasted till around 11, but its still on my shirt that i was wearing. This is a fun type of summer scent. definitely will be getting alot of play in this hot cali weather.

although I'm a recent niche convert, Lacoste Style in Play is and will for ever be my signature fragrance. Lacoste really does a good job with creating good fragrances, this being one of them. It is very fresh and energizing...very young. It took the best of all the notes included in the making of it. It is more of a day time/spring-summer although it does fall also good. I love it

One of my all time favorite scents. Admittedly better suited for a younger audience, but this is when I discovered it and I could never completely let it go. It doesn't get worn every day anymore but I tend to work it into the rotation just for the comforting nostalgia if nothing else. Worth noting it has received plenty of compliments through the years by both men and women.

Nothing woody for me. For me is a fruity watermelon madness!! Is a mouth watering scent, is an absolute winner. Absolute lovely perfume, great projection and longevity, been in love ever since it came out. So weird on how a scent that is so light, so inofensive, can have such a power bomb. I love this perfume and is so under the radar. Love Love Love and the price is great.

An amazing fragrance when it comes to smell Ive gotten 2 bottles of this because i just love the fresh smell it has. Modern sporty smell. Performance 4/10 Projection 4/10 Price point to expensive for what it is. The big problem is that you put it on and about an hour or two later smell dissipates and its like you never wore nothing.

I absolutely love this fragrance! Is it bad that I want to wear it and I'm a woman? Tempted to buy it for my boyfriend just so I can smell it all the time. Women buy this for your man. Or men buy this for yourself.. she wont be able to keep her hands off you ...or your cologne bottle! Either way this one is a must have! haha

all i can say is a combo of this and Carlos Santana makes it a little more manly and sexy...my girlfriend said,while we were at the movies , with a "protective, confused , but pleased" look on her face that another woman complimented me on how i smelled and asked if she got that for me, and where to get some.... :-)

Nowadays this is still a great scent for spring and summer. I have fantastic memories of this, because it was my summer signature scent in my teens. I accidentally came across this fragrance on the internet today, and now I'm considering buying a bottle again. Just to sniff some good old memories every now and then.

Love at first snif, back in 2004. It ́s an amazing fragrance, so well balanced. Very strange because it ́s so light, so weak at first sight and, yet, it projects so well, so strong, so fresh, so far. Longevity is great. The best fruity blue scent outhere. I got watermelon, don ́t know why. A must have. 10/10

Brings back memories! It was my first decent fragrance back in early 2000s. I used it in my late teenage years so it still smells carefree, very light and refreshing. First what I get is a bunch of apples and even cinnamon (maybe because my nose wants to match those notes). Great choice for younger ones!

According to me the Best Lacoste perfume followed by Essential. This may get you many complements from the ladies, however, let me give u a heads up this fragrance is fruity and you may end up smelling like an apple-pie garnished with spices. Somehow I kind of love this! Thumbs up.

I love this frag. Simple, manly, youthful in a way but any confident man can wear this. It's a gorgeous carefree fragrance ideal for Spring and Summer. To my skin, the performance is good for its price point plus its scent profile is not so common. Can't complain. 8/10

I have had this fragrance for over 15 years and it smells as amazing at it did when I first sprayed it. Such a versatile scent that is fresh and sweet with a pleasant woody drydown. Perfect for all ages. Performance and projection are ok, wish it was better. (8/10)

New bottles are reformulated and it is now very weak. My 2006 bottle lasts about 6-8 hours on my skin but the recent one is just about 2-3 hours. Smells nice clean red apple, though. Still one of my favorites. Scent is 10/10, but performance for new bottle 5/10.

At first I didn ́t like this at all. But today, a few months after the blind buy, it feels quite good. I still think it ́s to much the first 10 minutes, but after that it calms down. It also reminds med of a much lighter version of Bruno Banani Magic Man.

Like apples, smells oh so good ... however that was five or six years ago. If you are in your twenties, it is likely that you and those around you might enjoy it. If you are past the 29 mark, think again. Definitely a scent for a younger audience.

king of notes on this cologne are green apple.this note gives you an energy that you want to play. also i can smell cider on base notes. highly recommended I'm sorry for previous comment coz I don't know that I'm not sign in.

I really like this fragance,its my second favorite,my first is Cool Water by David off. Try Lacoste Style in Play,its a really Good and freshy fragrance,youre not going to be disappointed.

overall pretty decent fragrance very good also to wear in the rain but just not in the winter maybe late late fall I gived this fragrance a 7 &a half out of 10

Woody, Green masculine apple fragrance, it lasts forever on clothes and isn't hyped by fragcom youtubers. It's great, especially for the spring/summer.

i can detect Green apple, pine tree and patchouli in this lovely juice. Very energetic and comfort smell.Stay pretty good on my skin,thumbs up .
