Hysteria

I bLind bought this as I couldn’t find a sample and it has been on my list for some time despite never smelling it. Received my bottle today (got it on BF sale), and I really like it! It’s cold AF right now so I know it’s now really the right perfume to wear during this time of year where I live, but had to try it. It’s reminiscent of a few I’ve sampled lately and really liked but felt they were missing something, and this fills that gap. I know I tend to buy one of four kind of frags, either vanilla ones (a recent thing), tropical beachy scents like this that have a green lush Tiare/Hibiscus etc thing going on, more floral focused and not as beachy (in what I call the more romantic and classic perfumes like AG gardenia passion and van cleef gardenia petals), and amber/smoky/woody frags that are mostly unisex, like the myrrh mystique (my latest one for a fall winter scent), and Jo Malones ginger biscuit which I’ve had since 2023, best suited for for this time of year. I need to stop myself from buying more summer frags since I won’t be able to really wear for another 4 months from now, but I can’t help but love the smell of REALISTIC sunscreen scents- and this smells like legit sunscreen in the best way, like vintage Bain de soleil and a an expensive tiarre frag over it while laying out at your 5 star hotel private beach. This is a true sunscreen scent and I am here for it!

Hysteria, love her. I was not previously a heady florals person but this got me instantly! It was my favorite from the discovery set. The BIG white florals, jasmine & tuberose, are the body of this one for me. The other notes making the occasional cameo but mostly working as background scenery (& doing that job really well!) I get some coconut, some suntan lotion & sometimes a little bubblegum from the tuberose! I do wish the palo santo would make a more obvious appearance - but thats not exactly a complaint - because I do love it as it is! I had a very successful layering moment with this and Ossuary from La-Curie which is a Palo Santo heavy beauty* I do not get the indolic skank that happens for some people - With my skin chemistry it vibes 'fresh' while still balmy and lush. Feels like you had a great bath, and are taking an evening walk, smelling the new buds of a night blooming jasmine vine mingling with the fresh air & evening humidity on your clean skin.

A hot summer day like no other. This is the scent of pure unadulterated 95 degree humid weather. You're on the beach, gathering firewood with bugs all around you and the sun blinding and burning you. In the distance from the jungle, you smell Tuberose and Jasmine. You're parched. Luckily you remembered sunscreen

I'm quite fond of Hysteria and have had it for a while now. I brought a decant of it with me to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. Someone once suggested using a new perfume or acquiring one early on in a trip so that you could develop a strong association and scent memory. In the future, you could smell the fragrance and be transported back to that specific trip. Hysteria is predominantly a heavy white floral. Tuberose is the star, laced with coconut, and suntan oil. At first sniff, it's really quite strong so I prefer to let it air out a little before you can enjoy it. In my mind, it pairs well with tan skin, sweat from the humid heat, and palm fronds swaying in a coastal breeze.

It's a brutal summer day, the mosquitos are terrible, and I put on Hysteria by Mondo Mondo as if succumbing to it. The concept of the fragrance is something about a colonist woman in a state of paranoia in some jungle, but I get more of the summer melt, globs and globs of sunblock, drinking coconut water to stave off the fatigue and mirage. After a time you smoke a bowl and the sunblock smell is less harsh, or it's the nice part of the sunblock, and you are able to dissolve into the heat and the sound of waves sweeping closer.
