Pichola

Pichola Neela Vermeire Creations (Skin test) I remember I have test Pichola more than half year ago. Today, I think of this again after wearing Le Rivage des Syrtes by MDCI (this is the Orange Blossom, Tuberose and soft Incense that very harmonize, slight dark, sweet - it walk the same way as Pichola). I recall Pichola as the Orange Blossom x Tuberose, soft spice fragrance that bright and go-easy on nose. And how bright, light and serene this one is, I think this a time for me to a bottle (I personally find out that a beautiful Orange Blossom scent is really hard to make after try many orange blossom fragrance). I own the vintage bottle of Nuit de Tuberose (clear glass) and I don't think it share similarity enough. As Nuit de Tuberose emphasis on Woody property in powdery fuffy manner and Beautiful Milky Tuberose (I don't think Nuit de Tuberose contains Tuberose Absolute as it doesn't really feel rubbery in slight manner - edit 1 : 31 Jan 2025 : Sorry it does contains Tuberose Absolute but it interprets in Bois des Iles sandalwood base). Pichola emphasis on clarity of floral yet still reserve a natural identity of floral (slight rubbery feel remains). Pichola is beautiful floral bouquet I would love to constant wear. I will buy Pichola.

It is my second most loved perfume from this line. My favourite is Bombay Bling! What I love about Pichola is the refined combination of the white blossoms, one of the best I have smelled. The perfume gives a positive feeling, I like to wear it in business meetings as it has a small sillage but undoubtedly smells charming, pleasant and expensive. It suits my personality as I love Asia very much and all the associations with it are dear to me. Pichola can be worn anytime and anywhere without feeling out of place. Bombay Bling is, in my opinion, less suitable for office and business, as it too easily spills over into the most relaxed holiday and party mood. This is not the case with Pichola, you can easily pass yourself off as a competent business woman in this perfume, as well as a nice girlfriend. I always wear Pichola when I have to give speeches. It somehow has the right vibe to keep my head fresh.

Been wearing it over the past few years, and find that the strength seemed to increase in my perception from already very heady to blinding strong, so tried the spray in air and walk thru method of application which is the perfect calibration on my skin, hair, and clothing for me. A fine wide mist allows my own body heat and skin to be an element and the warmth adding to the thousands of heady white flowers becomes comforting as well as beautiful. It feels like wearing a halo or full body aura as seen in ancient paintings. Almost linden tree in full flower-like in green freshness married to tuberose opulence. Innately elegant and sophisticated. I think you learn how to carry it while enjoying it. A true luxe experience.

Beautiful! And unisex in my opinion (especially if dressed sharply to go with it). Lots of notes listed up there but I mostly get tuberose with a big green note. Tuberose and it’s stems. Very realistic, non-indolic white florals. I don’t notice much of the other notes, even if I try to haha. Probably the best white flower scent I’ve smelled in a long long time!!!!!!

Yes, the sample I have elicits the OMG reaction, even from those who are not normally fans of perfume, so not only is it easy to love, it's also satisfying for those who have a lot of perfume experience. It is what I call a Perfume with a capital P. Lush, ornate, brilliant composition.

After testing a lot of different white flower perfumes, this and Anthony Marmin’s Tataouine are the two very, very best unisex white flower perfumes I have ever sniffed!

Lake Pichola in Udaipur must be an astonishing place. Quiet, serene, yet colorful and bountiful. This certainly isn’t like any lake I’ve been to before - little alone smelled. My facetiousness and inability to “connect the dots” to one side, Pichola - the perfume - is really quite gorgeous. It is one of the quietest and most serene presentations of tuberose and orange blossom I’ve smelled - that earlier part was true. The perfume sparkles as soon as it hits skin, like colorful light bouncing off of the surface of a sapphire lake. Present are sour bergamot, zesty orange juice, and a good slug of metallic neroli for a white floral and silvery sheen. Woody and sweet hay like spices of cardamom and saffron string down to the heart to add a bit more color to the vividly white and pink tuberose and an orange... uh... orange blossom. The tuberose is its typical heady, creamy, sweet, and fleshy self but kept to remarkably good behavior. It’s not launching itself in the air as its wont to do, and I’m not pulling any histrionic green notes it can frequently have - those like its wanting to scratch out your eyes. It’s gentle, fluffy, and warm, like a purring kitten. The orange blossom is allowed to be its natural self by comparison: always sunny, sweet, aloof, happy, and carefree, it smells as it should and adds lovely color and a sunny disposition to the otherwise standoffish tuberose. The final skin scent is mostly Neela Vermeire’s much loved creamy sandalwood, albeit given a healthy dose of floral white musks that carry the brief quite convincingly. There are more musks in the base than sandalwood per my nose, but it’s without question an NVC dry down. Very pretty and well done, and in the NVC style we’ve come to know and love it is rich, detailed, and spared no expense. It is hardly anything new or novel, but it doesn’t need to be nor does it pretend to be. It simply wants to make you smile and put a bit of sunshine in your day.

Aah, tuberose ... my nemesis. So what happens to it in the hands of Neela Vermeire, who's a genius, and whose sophisticated hand with florals (not my field at all) can make scents I genuinely adore (Trayee and Ashoka changed my mind entirely about what a floral can be) ?? It's ... amazing and admirable but it still can't change my mind completely. This is an immensely detailed, multi-faceted, gloriously green and herbal tapestry embroidered with tremendous skill. So much going on in there, and of hugely impressive strength and performance. It's almost incredible - a genius balancing act of bitter, grassy, sap-like, crushed-leaf grown-up notes with innocently charming sweeter petals scattered over the top in fractal patterns. And a thick, velvety, lush bedding of ripe tuberose femininity underlying it all. Undeniably adult, upscale and impressive. But... for my nose ONLY ... the tuberose is just too dominant and too sweet, so it squashes down my great personal enjoyment of the rest. (Aim off because of my general tuberose phobia - the only scent so far I've ever contemplated buying where it's present is Diptyque's exceptionally mild and watery-greeny treatment of it in Do Son). A missed Pich(ola) when I'm at bat, but for any tuberose fan, or for anyone looking to explore really distinctive, un-cliched, strongly original florals this should be an automatic try.

Bright, lemony magnolia petals dancing playfully on a bed of creamy, candied tuberose and sandalwood. I detect hints of a dry coconut somewhere too. I confess I can't really smell much else that is listed here. It's very flirty and totally feminine; Reminds me of a vivacious blonde flicking her hair back and wafting the scent of fresh shampoo in my face with a knowing smile. Perhaps the subtle hints of saffron add to that image; This is not the first Neela Vermeire creation that reminds me of hair products (see my review for "Trayee"). To be honest, I was expecting a bit more from the composition. At least I'd hoped I would smell more of the clementine, the cardamom and the cinnamon, but mostly I just get a sweet, frothy shampoo scent. I wouldn't want to dissuade people with that comparison however, as it doesn't smell cheap. The ingredients are high grade for sure and quite potent, it almost leapt off the tester strip. There is a nice balance observed between soft and sharp textures here and the sweetness of the tuberose and orange blossom are restrained enough that it doesn't turn into a cloying bubble-gum bath like in MDCI's "Peché Cardinal". Women will love this, it's definitely a cute, fluffy 'girl's night out' type of scent, without being garish or immature.

Pichola is a Big Damn Orange Blossom par excellence. We are in full-on Southern summer fantasy territory: white-columned mansions, lacy white dresses, lazy ceiling fans, tinkling pianos, humidity and Spanish moss. The opening is full of juicy sweet clementine and gauzy, swoony orange blossom and airy neroli, with other white florals singing backup. Everything is kept rather delicate and not especially indolic. This would be a great wedding perfume. Pichola has the usual Duchaufour signature “hologram” effect where it feels simultaneously “full-bodied” and “weightless” — not the watercolor transparency of an Ellena or the heavy richness of a vintage or retro-style perfume, but somehow both at once, depth without density. Pichola is made more interesting than your typical orange blossom with a dusting of saffron and a sort of coconutty, buttery note that’s more savory than the flowers, backed up by a suggestion of blond woods. The drydown mostly focuses on this toasty-buttery zone, which I find original and delightful.

Pichola is a nice citrus forward white floral perfume w/ soft cinnamon and saffron kind of hovering over the bolder citrus and floral notes. Sweet, heavy orange blossom dominates for me here. This is very tropical, and it makes me think of Hawaii as I am smelling it. It has the tropical drink smell blending w/ all the tropical flowers. Gets slightly woody in the dry down. This really reads like a Niche version or like a postmodern version of Givenchy Amarige. That is a bold tropical floral and fruit fragrance just like this one, but Pichola is a lot more in the unisex category than Amarige. I can see a man wearing this in the right situation. No powder here unlike w/ Amarige. Could be headache inducing if over sprayed. This is a tropical floral that is saturated in sweet citruses. It has a very heavy feel. Like it is a little too much but if sprayed lightly Pichola is a fun summer delight. Very heavily saturated citrus floral.

An evocative Floriental enhanced by subtle wood and spice that perfectly captures the spirit of the region in India it is named after. Not quite as evocative as Trayee or Ashoka, but reflecting a profound spiritual beauty, Pichola contains central notes of tuberose, jasmine sambac, rose and magnolia which are enhanced by the addition of cardamom, cinnamon, saffron, juniper, neroli, ylang-ylang, benzoin, sandalwood, and vetiver. Leaning a bit on the feminine side but can be worn by patient eclectic men willing to wait till the drydown softens the floral notes, and brings out the wood and spice notes. Moderate in sillage/projection and lingers beautifully on skin unobtrusively for hours. Enjoy!

This is a fragrant bouquet of white flowers with citrusy top. It differs from other white bouquets by the aromatic notes which make the perfume leaning more unisex. When first tested, it reminded me of Frassai's Verano Porteno but comparing it side by side, that one is more jasmine whereas this one more tuberose. I can see my mum liking the fruity sweetness of Pichola but I prefer my tuberose to be more green and fresh.

The energy of genuine natural tuberose is here. amazingly beautiful.

To start out this citrus and probably orange blossom combo really gives a dusty candy like sweet tarts smell. I can’t enjoy the other parts. I’m just a big sweet tart.

What a disappointment! It's a weak and non-descript composition that barely smells of anything and disappears in 20 minutes.

Pichola by Neela Vermeire Creations just released in March of 2015 is a lush fleurs blanches rush of romanticism as well as a homage to the beautiful lake in Rajasthan for which it is named. It is a splendid perfume that I find to be intoxicating and perhaps the most beautiful perfume yet from the impeccably brilliant house of Vermeire. It is a fragrance of love, and spring beginning, it is a wedding fragrance that promises a honeymoon of carnal delights that with a holy blessing may never end. It is glorious. The nose behind this creation of Neela’s is the wonderful Bertrand Duchaufour who is responsible for the entire canon of the house. A brilliant nose who has created many modern masterworks for L’Artisan Parfumeur, Dior, Acqua di Parma, Aedes de Venustas ...the list is longer than the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. The idea for this house is to blend and marry two worlds. The exotic rich beauty and history of India with the equally rich tradition of classical French perfumes. We are not disappointed in the least by this attempt to bring the two worlds together. Bertrand Duchaufour once again has met the challenge and succeeded brilliantly. As an oriental floral Pichola sings in accords of spices and white florals, of woods and the aromatic splendors of the East. It is undulating and sensuous. A sublime seduction of the senses. It opens with notes of spices and citrus, bergamot, clementine, neroli oil, sparkle like early morning sun on the lake...the magnolia smooths and sooths the citric notes down and lays its fleshy white carpet over them to make way for the spices of saffron, cardamom, cinnamon with a twist of juniper that are spilled like jewels before a monarch on unfurled bolts of red, purple and gold silk. The middle notes take us to the heart of this perfume, the palace where passion dwells on her throne of love. Orange blossom absolute, Rose absolute, Tuberose absolute come in waves designed to weave into a marriage made in heaven with yellow blossomed ylang-ylang and a slyly beautiful midnight Jasmine Sambac. It shimmers on the skin more beautifully than gold dust in the light of a full moon. This is all supported by a fine if not in fact very glamourous dry down of vetiver, benzoin absolute, bone dry driftwood and a creamed almost caramelized sandalwood. A brilliant armature of notes that is almost architectural, an armature if you will from which all that came before it hangs in perfect harmonious balance. But the notes do much more than hang from this support, they dance. The longevity of this perfume is epic but never overwhelming. The silage is full and lush and you will be noticed. This is a perfume for both sexes but keep in mind that this sexy perfume demands a bold personality to wear it well. Pichola embodies all the glamour and youth, the romance and beauty, the fluttery butterflies one feels with the realization that you are falling in love with India though the eyes of Paris. This is no shrinking wall flower...this is the belle of the ball at the dawn of a new Belle Epoch in perfume. The beauty of Neela Vermeire Creations is their ability to be smart, stylish, and modern, while at the same time conveying the principals of classic French perfumery. Pichola is NVC's fifth release and it is a knockout, unsurprisingly from a house that has already delivered major hits with its earlier four scents. Pichola is Bertrand Duchaufour's modern white floral masterpiece, which seeks to reinvent the often heavy-handed mid-century white floral genre into something that is spectacularly wearable, never heavy, and eminently chic. Tuberose and orange blossom, two hallmark materials of the white floral school that have in this millennium become accused by association of floral assassination (Fracas), are as smooth as porcelain in Pichola. There's a bite of neroli's greenery when first applied, and then Pichola slides onto the skin with an ease and intelligence and outright simple beauty that makes one question whether the rest of modern perfumery has lost its mind. Here, in Pichola, is not only a rational interpretation of a white floral, but a brilliant one. Pichola is delicately wrought without being faint; lovers of tuberose (and I am one) will find the note astonishingly sublime here, when married to both the orange blossom and the magnolia. Spice notes are non-invasive and are mere accents that are hard to call out by name; they serve to temper any sweetness that might otherwise occur and nothing more. I enjoy the early-to-mid-development of Pichola so much that I don't notice the drydown and then there it is--a somewhat dry and restrained vetiver, driftwood, and benzoin beautifully done and just enough--in this Southern heat, to leave but a welcome trace on the skin. The tuberose in Pichola is smashingly good; you think you know the note and then you realize that you don't when you smell Pichola's smooth, creamy version. Bertrand Duchaufour has charmed tuberose past a period piece into something that ought to be a celebrated modern artwork. Whatever complaint tuberose was subject to in the past should now be completely forgotten and the note enjoyed anew. Pichola is the intelligent tuberose, the resolutely gorgeous tuberose, the emerging truth of the note reinterpreted beyond the period piece. At the moment and with some worthy competition it is at the top of the Neela Vermeire Creations oeuvre, which is a bold statement since I love all of them nearly equally. NVC has yet to take a wrong turn with me and to my delight has only kept on getting better, and how many times do we say that?

Lake Pichola in Udaipur, Rajasthan, scene of the stunning Lake Palace (among other palaces) and the location for the James Bond film, “Octopussy.” Udaipur is the inspiration for this perfume that I find quite relaxing. Pichola takes me on an unforgettable and hypnotic fragrant journey: the splendour of opulent and vibrant flowers, princely spices and precious woods. The core of the scent is a heady tuberose with a touch (I repeat, a touch) of greeness and it peserves all its heady tone: a little bit creamy (coconut added?), a little bit sweet, and a little bit fleshy. The result is a well behaved tuberose, very classy. It is introduced by heady orange blossoms: here again, no camphoraceous blackness, no blowsy indoles, no over-ripeness verging on decay, or fleshy, skanky muskiness. These are fresh orange blossoms that are heady in the most natural of ways, as though they were still clinging to the tree and only starting to release their fragrant sweetness. Neroli and mandarin add zestiness and that festive climate that the mango imparts to Bombay Bling! It a bright aroma: the heavy pulp from a sun-ripened orange; the zesty, zingy tartness of oil which feels as though it had been squirted from the rind of hundreds of green tangerines and then reduced down further into a potent absolute; and the more piquant, crisp greenness of neroli. To enrich the flowers I detect: saffron, dry cinnamon, and a dash of woody cardamom; the spiciness is hazy and quiet, impacting the flowers indirectly, underscoring their heady aroma. The most beautiful part: Underneath the billowing blossoms, deep down in the furthest part of the base, you can just about discern streaks of vetiver and sandalwood. Here I find resemblance to Nuit de Tubereuse for l'Artisan always made by Duchaufour. The scent closes with the driftwood note meant to reflect the colours and reflections of the lake: dry, dessiccated, and mildy salty-acquatic. Interesting. Follow me on IG @alexolympia6

Pitchola is the other side of Neela Tuberose works, this is a soft, delicate and extremely beautiful chord, It mixes the citrus parts elegantly always allowing the Tuberose and the Jasmine to dance and create a spectacular movement that creates an etheral composition, If Eschal was the more direct, almost pure interpretation, Pitchola is the little sweet sister, a pure and delicate entity, naturally sweet and effervescent radiating on the skin like a beautiful nectar. I am glad that is a masterpiece dedicated for a female side, because i was probably going to buy this as well, what refrains me is the very beautiful depth of the sweet part, this is something spectacular on a women. And for this reason i am greatful, seems like most of the Neela creations are absolute bangers, mostly for women counting how sweet this persists on the skin. Either way, is a beautiful creation that respect Tuberose so beautifully and give her unique a stage to shine. I highly suggest this to any women that has a soft character, and yet she knows exactly what she wants, Piccola in italian means " Little", there is surely a connection, if i smell this in the air, i would be catapulted next to her ;)

Bitter neroli saffron over sweet tuberose and the Neela Vermeire signature spicy rose sandalwood Diving deep into the Neela Vermeire - Dechaufour experience Pichola, immediately stood out as one of the more subtly complex scents compared to something more affable like the stunning Ashoka. Pichola seems to be the exact midpoint between a delicately sweet tuberose and an unexpected bitter saffron neroli opening. I find the accords listed above completely unrepresentative. Aromatic nuances intensely dominate the first 10 minutes or so and persist subtly throughout the majority of its duration. As it settles the tuberose soon manifests with its distinct direct, high pitched creamy character. Shining like a backlight, the signature rosy steamed rice sandalwood of this line up. It’s definitely a unique bitter green tuberose which sits in somewhere between other Duchaufour tuberoses and more traditionally masculine bitter green neroli EdCs. I personally find it surprisingly difficult to wear, but appreciate its uniqueness.

A pleasant but hackneyed lemony floral with some buttery musk notes underneath. It opens green and bright, with a touch of tang to counter any overt sweetness, and then it kicks up into a milky almost hay-like tuberose. Over time, it fizzles out into a vanillic, blond woody base with a slight marine nuance, and that’s really all there is to it. Although it’s a little on the chemical side, it sidesteps harshness and never threatens to cloy. Articulate, Duchaufourian, but ultimately, it’s just a basic white floral sans any flare or personality to make it stand out. I wish I had more to say about it, but just doesn't move me at all.

Dirty Floral, Sinful lime, & filthy jasmines. That Ylang splattered and slaughtered the purity of this floral with the help of cardamom & sandalwood as you can sense the floral quite tender and soft but there is something sinful, dirty, and filthy in. After the dry down you can still smell that amazing sinful floral for a little while, while your eyes are fully closed enjoying the essence... one in a sudden you will feel a wood board smashed into your face out of nowhere. It is contradicted with a very high quality. This house surprises me with their superb quality and amazing creation.

SHORT REVIEW Pichola is named after a lake and town in Rajasthan, India which is known for its kings and queen - Royal culture flows through this state and this fragrance is quite apt for a queen with floral dominant opening tuberose and jasmine able supported by vetiver - I liked the blend and this one is very feminine fragrance so personally wont wear this much however a classy woman should look to wear this - Quality is very good with excellent projection and sillage . Must try fragrance for all the ladies out there !

This is a beautiful warm floral scent and perfect for autumn days. One can certainly perceive already from the opening a beautiful Neroli warmed up in Saffron and Cinnamon tones. Tuberose and Sandalwood notes persist for hours. It has certainly the Neela signature - outstanding quality of ingredients and oriental richness. A must-try for perfume lovers!

2 seconds of peach over dark soapy. The soapiness smells almost muddy. Classy vintage lady who is a black widow. The soap is mingling with the wood-- It's very heavy on the wood. Dry down is lovely-- warm, sweet, spicy.

This is really spectacular: I've been holding onto my sample for a month !
