Avant Gardenia

An enticing floral fragrance, very complex and multilayered since TR is using always natural absolutes. I looked up and find out that in a true Gardenia natural absolute there are more than 17 fragrant molecules, whereas a premium synthetic Gardenia molecule hasn't got more than 3, it's not only the most naturalistic gardenia smell that I am getting in this perfumez but my nose picks up also some other florals, I mean there are also distinct aspects of narcisse, lily and lotus in here as well, the vintage quality is obtained thanks to the myrhh resin, which reminds me of slightly overbaked almomd honey cookies dipped in a sandy and semi-therpentic maple syrup, and the gorgeous sandal wood defines the core character of that beautiful fragrance, where another type of sandal, the so called Amyris gives a desert like auro to this reviving white floral perfume, when I spray it, gives me the impression, that there is something alive in the bottle, so dynamic and revitalizing on my skin. I simply love it

If I was to name this perfume, I would name it Winter Gardenia. Gardenia is there but she has been cloaked in honey, myrrh, resins, spices, and sandalwood. There are also other florals that I think kind of overshadow the gardenia a bit, I pick up a lot of lotuses in this and a leathery osmanthus. I don't know if those florals were used to create this perfume but to my nose, I'm pretty sure they are there. This is a heavy honeyed gardenia perfume. Very long lasting, almost cloying but in a good way. I will have to see what my husband thinks of it. I wish I had got this sample in winter because to me this is one you wear in cold weather, but I don't want my sample lying around so I will wear it all (I blow through samples like crazy, I wear up to 4-5 mils of perfume a day) If you want to be draped in a mysterious, heavy, resinous and honeyed gardenia this is one you should check out.

First impression - adjectives to describe this fragrance: warm, sweet, sensual, spicy, resinous, rich, heady, delicious, decadent, floral and tropical. A delightful rich floral fragrance. Swoon worthy stuff. Love.

When I want to wear something truly, truly beautiful this is the one. Stunning.

Middle age male reviewer, long time part-time frag hobby, well-versed in fume but consider myself a layperson. What I believe a lot of everyday folks would get from this is a bit different from the reviews so far: The vintage aspect is definitely there but it's not just the grandma gig associated with that description. A definite very potent gardenia that many may associate with soaps of yesteryear (yester-decade?) that present a clean and even fresh white flower. ("Fresh"...a word I'm surprised I haven't read yet. Why do we need to associate "fresh" with only aromatics/blues/calone/ambroxin etc bombs?). The potent white flower will give many a sensation of clean freshness. AND...perhaps a distinct beachy-ness, suntan lotion-ish association. I haven't yet analyzed all the sun lotion products yet for the underlying scent profiles that are long associated with them, but I unquestionably get a hint of "the beach" on the backbone of this. Another aspect I'm surprised I haven't heard described yet. On my test paper it definitely projects and lasts for an all-natural. This is my third sample from this house, and I'm pleased with them all so far as far as construction goes. One of them was a bit too animalic for me (but dried down nicely) but that's just a personal preference; the design of the perfume still had to be assessed in my opinion as high quality even tho it wasn't something I would wear. This IS something I would wear. Even as a dude, this is full bottle worthy at some point and a frag I will spray on my clothes for some casual circumstances that come to mind for a clean floral experience. As a straight man, I've never shied away from a good quality floral if it gives me "clean" vibes as compared to "fem" vibes. (Heck, I'll even occasionally indulge in the latter. High fives for the straighty in the pink shirt smelling like flowers). .

This is some Gardenia but also moist, creamy, old school white flowers. Maybe ylang, lilies, tiare ... Sweet, clean, starched but also sinful, sexy and femmmmmme. For attitude it reminded me of Loulou .. in a night version and with a sweet cream of sandalwood and impressive amyris. Dense, rather linear, damn genuine and just as long lasting. Good.

I wanted a gardenia fragrance to remind me of my grandmother. I decided I am not a white floral person, and prefer my gardenia in the garden. For floral lovers, it is very nice. Has a semi vintage feel. I will enjoy my sample and not buy a full bottle.

Smells like ambery flowers. Gorgeously blended. Very pleasant. I'm impressed. I'm not really into ambers right now though. I definitely highly respect this fragrance. -

I'm in the minority it seems, but the gardenia/floral notes are too strong and vintage-smelling to my nose. I find it to be very unpleasant in that regard. If you like a more vintage floral scent give this a try, because this is not blind buy worthy on any level, especially since there are so many florals out there that top this and are way below the asking price for TRNP.

One word? It feels like a longing. I'm a Gardenia lover, so it was a given that I would try this. Being a word-smith the name, a trick with the wording, "avant-garde" pulled me in also. It's not Van Cleef + Arpels Gardenia Petale, nor Isabey Gardenia which I own. Those are for the day with a flowery dress. This one is for the night.

TRNP Avant Gardenia is a gorgeous resinous floral. It's not the customary floral scent you will most likely come across while searching for a gardenia perfume. My initial impression is white flowers enrobed with precious myrrh. Warm, woody and with a sweetness akin to benzoin. What a complex and exceptional beauty!
