1986

1986 is one of Xerjoff’s most recent releases and is a very agreeable fresh blend of green tea, mandarin, cardamom, and orange blossom. It’s a classic case of “what’s not to like?” as the fragrance is perfectly wearable for anyone—not too sharp to be off-putting, not too watery to be boring—yet does not test any boundaries or push any norms. I think it balances the tea, citrus, and floral aspects well, with just enough cardamom in the background to keep things interesting. I feel like I would mainly be in inclined to wear it on a summer day or when relaxing around the house. It’s an easy winner, as I sometimes say. 1986 was released as part of Xerjoff’s “Spray to Help” initiative to support the Piedmontese Foundation for Cancer Research, established in 1986, and is currently sold only through the Xerjoff universe website for €197 (for 50ml), which translates roughly to $242 US, with shipping on top of that, I believe. I find the price steep for the creation so part of the motivation in buying it has to be supporting its mission, as there are many comparable fresh fragrances that are more affordable. For example, Anthony Hopkins’ AH Eau de Parfum supports “No Kid Hungry” with a more modest $75 bottle (that is 100ml). Still, I like 1986 overall and it’s worth trying if an agreeable albeit pricey freshie is in your wheelhouse, particularly to support a good cause in Italy. 7 out of 10

Im a 1986 born. So, I might as well sample it and try it just for sentimental purposes. Not bad. I get a green tea smell on it. Ideal for warm days. Last on me, a good 5 hours. Maybe if overspray it might last a bit more. I got a 1 ml sample.

Edit: I’ve had to edit below this as it turns out in fact that a new candle was wafting a floral scent in the back ground so infact it wasn’t my wrist that was smelling quite so floral. Gorgeous though not original. Possibly the most commercially attractive of all Xerjoff scents. Very safe. Other than Landshark321s review (which are usually spot on) I find reviews here totally perplexing! Nearly bought a bottle but settled for a small decant. Orange Blossom mainly, the tea and cardamom helping it along by giving a tiny nectary pollen white and yellow floral feel over the orange. There are occasions when I find the orange blossom is a bit stronger and on these occasions it also reminds me of less nuanced Etat Libre Hermann. I guess on the positive it’s an above average in silage for its type and very wearable for men.

Citrusy perfume for summer with many mixture in each phase. Opening is very beautiful with a fizzy aldehydic vibe like ROJA Oceania. The subtle tea notes comes up in the mid quite similar with Guerlain Néroli OUTRENOIR that I love. Transition into a sharp woody ambroxan profile in the drydown found in Bvlgari Tygar. Unfortunately the progression is happening too fast and the drydown is also mellow down quite quickly too resulting in a very short lived fragrance 🙏.

Nice Opening... Meh Middle... 12:30 what feels like a woody base starts to pop through... Its in the air rather than up close... This element is lovely... In general passed through the day with little interest... Nice enough but doesn't stand out... At this price it would need to knock you out of the way and this hardly brushes your shoulder...
