Sweet Matcha Day

I was lured in by the promise of milky green notes; expecting a warm cup of matcha latte, pre-whisked, powder just poured straight from the bag. And yet from beginning to end, I would call this Sweet Milk Day. It opens up milky. It's definitely sweet, but not synthetic plasticky sweet like most Zara perfumes have. It reminds me of UHA or White Rabbit candies. And with time the milk stays, gets stronger, really really really lactonic and delicious that you can almost taste it with your tongue. Once the skin musk drydown appears, the sweetness of the milk dims and hardens, and a savory taste emerges – I figured this would be akin to the 'green' note other reviews are talking about. A lot of spray is needed to go a long way (at such a low price it's not a problem), and you really would prefer to spray this cold but warm up your skin for longevity. The savory, umami milkiness of this EDT makes it a strong contender for the most unique (if not the best) scent from Zara tbh. Personally, it's the perfect lazy night aftershower scent, when it's time to cuddle innocently and talk about dreamy plans for the next weekend. Do not smell this in public, but spray a few on the skin and head to the Zara changing rooms to smell what it's really like. (I do find the perfume display section at Zara muddles the daintier notes of their fragrances.) Even though this was my blind buy, it's not blind buy safe, unless you do like smelling like creamy, yummy milk. My only complaint would just be the projection. Just because it's a 'skin' musk, doesn't mean it has to be incredulously intimate. Even just a slightly moderate forearm's length would make it perfect.

(First impressions since I tried it and bought it today) Wow, this actually smells like matcha latte! When you first spray it it smells exactly like matcha powder - slightly bitter green powder. Quite soon however it starts to smell like you've added the milk and some sugar into the tea, milky and sweet. The fragrance then gradually becomes softer but still retains the milky sweet matcha latte vibes. I can't speak about longevity or how I'll feel when actually worn (not just on one wrist) since it's such a recent purchase. I don't think the scent will last a lot, although considering how cheap it is (surprising to me since Zara recently increased the prices) I'm not mad. I'm shocked that it smells like it's supposed to smell and it's exactly what I was looking for after so many 'expectation vs reality' fragrance experiences lol (which are not always bad but not what I expected)

I agree with many of the other reviews that this fragrance shines in its dry down. When I first sprayed this, I thought it was kind of gross and gave sour milk and soil. Hours later, I was so pleasantly surprised by the dry down. It was so nice, I thought about it for days and was not able to return to Zara to buy in person, so I ordered online and I am so happy I did. The dry down is an addictive creamy sandalwood and musk, that leaves you enveloped in a cozy scent cocoon that lasts all day, which is also impressive for the price. Really a pleasant surprise!

To be completely honest, it's the bottle that lured me. I loved the combination of pink and green; I just had to have it in my hands! It smelled so completely green and grassy from the store, and I didn't get any milk notes. It's only when I let it sit at home that I am welcomed with the beautiful, sweet combination of wheat, milk, and musk. It's milky in a way that is not nauseating, unlike other lactonic fragrances, at least to me. I didn't really get the matcha note in this. Loved it anyhow!

NEW SPRING SCENT 🩷 love love love it It smells like a cheap matcha latte with 80% milk and 20% cheap matcha powder lol. It's a zara perfume after all, but i love that they brought this note it their collection. It's liniar throughout its wear. I have a theory that because the lactonic note the matcha one prolongs in the smell more. Playful and trendy, worth trying once.

everyone is saying it smells like dirt but i disagree, to me its a lovely creamy tea scent and i absolutely adore it. it's projection was pretty good as i kept on getting whiffs of it throughout my wearing it.

For me, it's a lovely creamy milky perfume. Also, good projection and longevity compared to the price.

Okay, wow. This one is quite interesting with how it develops on the skin - from all the perfumes I tried and own, Sweet Matcha Day has definitely the most “dynamic" scent profile, especially for a fragrance with not that many notes. Right after spraying it, you immediately get a blast of matcha powder in the opening - it's green and grassy, a bit spicy, slightly sharp, but overall decently realistic. Then soon enough the milkiness enters the chat and the whole scent gets much sweeter, almost becoming too sweet, maybe a bit cloying. The milk isn't just plain milk though - it's sweetened condensed milk. Topped with vanilla sugar and drizzled with sugary syrup. (Very sweet, yes.) But then the sandalwood hits and oh my, things get really intense at that point. (Keep in mind, we're still just about 5 minutes in after spraying, it's just the beginning of this journey.) This part is certainly the worst for me, since this perfume evolves into something predominantly woody, becoming very heavy and, let's call it mature - even verging slightly onto heavy night-time oriental fragrance territory? Thankfully, this part lasts only about 30-60 minutes and then it mellows out into something more balanced. The matcha powder makes a grand comeback, and it even brings a new friend with her - mint. (Mint? Where did that come from? I mean, I'm super happy about that because I love minty notes but ???) Anyway, now we finally can experience Matcha Sweet Day’s final form and you know what? It's quite lovely. It's sweet, creamy condensed milk at the base, clinging close to the skin. (The closer you get your nose to the place where you sprayed, the stronger it gets.) The sandalwood has finally chilled out and is now working its magic and keeping things from getting too overwhelming. The matcha powder notes add some much needed green earthiness and ground the scent nicely, balancing out the sweetness. I'm not gonna lie though - the surprise guest (the minty note that is not listed in the pyramid, I guess it's just the matcha being an overachiever) is what I like the most about this perfume. It's a lovely, sweet (yet still icy) mint supported by the earthy matcha powder and placed on a condensed milk base. And the result is actually pretty damn delightful. (Not everyone detects the minty note though, sadly. So I'm not sure yet how well the surroundings will be able to smell it, if at all...) So yes, it's actually a quite nice scent! I would say it's definitely more of a spring/autumn fragrance, since it's VERY sweet and milky, yet with the green matcha/mint notes keeping it somewhat cool at the same time. Still, as much as I like it, I don't think it's a fragrance you can safely blind buy - I believe it will generate rather strong opinions, both favorable and not. Also! The longevity is surprisingly great??? Even 8 hours after spraying (2 sprays) it barely lost any intensity. (It's obviously not super strong to begin with but still, my point stands.) It also transferred from my t-shirt to my blanket and I could still smell it on the fabric in the morning (17 hours after spraying)! Crazyyyy

To be honest - I bought it for the notes of dirt and garden cuttings mentioned below, but on me this perfume smells like milk and powdery, sweet musk, with light notes of matcha and strawberry (?) on the opening. Very pleasant, soft fragrance that will layer well with others. The bottle is really lovely, perfect for Spring.

it smells like lost alice with missing parts. milky sandalwood with a bit of earthy notes! it's really nice. extremely weak and intimate though, so i will probably just use it to layer under my lost alice :)

I had the impression that people are exaggerating that it’s bad. I mean look at the colours and I am a sucker for matcha perfume. I actually try to collect them. I smelled it today, was determined to buy it but it was so bad. I am so sad. It looked so promising.

I own many Zara fragrances and always try to buy new ones when they come out, hoping I will find my next hidden gem. I was hoping this would be too, but this one smells bad to me. It smells like actual dirt. Like Earth. I’m good, I’ll pass.

Was hoping for affordable matcha scent, but it was too sweet and milky instead. While I got the matcha notes in the beginning, later it developed into something very sweet that was not what I was looking for.

I get no matcha but a generic, and not specially pleasant, edt smell with kind of fruity/apple hints? Similar to solinotes matcha which I didnt like much either. It fades quickly, 2-3h tops

I don't often have this reaction to perfume but this is actually disgusting. I'm sorry but all I get is dirt, garden cuttings and spilled milk. There is no matcha. There is also no occasion where I would ever put this on my skin again willingly.

Sweet Matcha Day is sweet, indeed. Very sweet, I would say. And as time passes, it becomes more milky and creamy. To be honest, at first, I don’t pick up any musky or green notes at all. I find it very sweet and milky, with a strange soapy note. I don’t detect the matcha note whatsoever. No grass, no matcha powder, nothing. I really don’t like the opening, though. It’s green, but not in a natural way like tea or matcha, it’s more of a synthetic clean scent. It is overly cloying in the opening, and depending on the time, it can even make me feel nauseous, because this combination of sweet soapiness and milkiness isn't exactly a good thing. It also reminds me of something I can’t quite put my finger on. BUT... I swear, the dry down after about an hour is incredible (on me, at least). I’m performing Pavlovian experiments on myself because I like it so much. I just think, 'it's only an hour, it will pass, and better hours will come' 😂😭. The opening is truly awful, but I’ve become so addicted to the dry down that I’ve been wearing it for three days in a row!!! The musk (as a standalone note) here reminds me of the heart of musc in Narciso Rodriguez perfumes. It’s so creamy and delicious and beautifully sweet. I don’t know how to explain it. That strange, green, synthetic sweetness fades away, leaving only a slightly sweet, milky musk that is simply perfect. I don’t know if I like it as a perfume overall, I’m torn between love and hate. Do what you want with this information. For an EDT at this price point, the longevity is good and the sillage is, again, okay. Nothing crazy, but certainly not bad.

I get 0 matcha from this, instead the milk notes dominate. Someone compared this scent to those white rabbit candies and honestly that is the best comparison. It’s sweet, but not cloying, with a very powdery milky scent and to my nose, there’s almost like a rice or rice paper note. There is something green or tea like but it’s not very prominent and more like in the far back.

long lasting scent bubble, and I frequently catch a delightful milky matcha aroma. The sandalwood adds a comforting touch without making it overly sweet. While the sandalwood and skin musk notes might distract some from noticing the delicious milky matcha, I definitely experience it😋🤤🧋🍵

I like it! It is soft and fresh at the same time! Plus I smell it in my wardrobe on my shirt 🥰 I did not expect to like it because of the reviews here, but I am very happy I got it!!’

Very pickles/ sour opening, changes after a quarter of an hour into a mellow milkiness.. It settles into musk after an hour. Office worthy, day scent.
